We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. My favorite FCS team other than App has been Montana. It will stay that way unless we are playing them.

Re: Your new FCS team
To answer the question "who cares about FCS" I would have to say that I still care. By this, I mean that I still love college football and that includes FCS. I have many fond memories including three national championships that I will continue to enjoy.
I would stop short of saying these are "MY" teams, but I will be pulling for Western and Furman to return to the top of the SoCon. I form allegiances based on connections, and I have a lot of friends who have attended these two schools. I won't be buying any purple shirts, but I'll be wishing them well.

Re: Your new FCS team
I work with some WCU grads so I have always wished them well except against us. I don't want NDSU to be too successful and until JMU joins us I don't care for them, but I would not mind seeing most any SoCon school excel.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Re: Your new FCS team
Right now I'm not sure who my favorite is, but in 5-10 years when the big conferences break away again and form either another tier/league/BCS type of system which will once again leaves the smaller schools/conferences with the scraps, my favorite FCS tier level team will again be Appalachian State.
I'm just going to enjoy our time in our new position before it all reshuffles again.

Re: Your new FCS team
Hmm, I'll probably just check with the SoCon teams every now then, especially WCU & see how bad they still are, & watch the playoffs. That's the one thing i'm going to miss about the FCS; the playoffs. FBS gives you basically one "playoff" game & that's a possible bowl game.

Re: Your new FCS team
I don't have a favorite team in D2, D3, or NAIA so I don't see any reason to have one in FCS. I have a feeling many of our fans interest in the FCS will fade after we move up. I usually watch the D2 and D3 championship games and that is probably all I'll watch of FCS in the future.

I don't believe that I will have "a team" that I will pull for once we exit the SoCon/FCS. I will follow some of the scores but once we enter the Sun Belt, I will mainly be interested in the mid-major schools/scores. I have thoroughly enjoyed the SoCon and will have lots of fond memories!

Re: Your new FCS team
I will wish every team in the SoCon good luck. I think WCU can finally do something now that they have a chancellor who actually cares about football and an AD who doesn't throw the school under the bus when pressed as to why they can't win. Wish them well.
I also think ETSU will be better than their history before they canned the sport. They too have the suits now that want to win. Give App the credit. Not to sound like a braggart, but the win over Michigan, 3 straight NCs, etc showed the rest of the SoCon schools that they better step up. And, to a degree, once us and the igglets are gone, the other schools will.
Other than that, GSU is now our rival in FBS and I hope we mash them every time we play them. Go App!

Re: Your new FCS team
I dont really care what happens to the FCS, as long as we dont get stuck with the Elons of the world again, Im good. Our move ensures that App will remain at least at the "2nd level" of college football. I have no problems with the likes of Montana, or NDSU, Jax St, or other top type teams making a commitment to go to 85 scholarships when/if the BCS leaves, but I dont want to ever have to watch App play in Boiling Springs, Elon, or at Samford ever again. I see Wofford, Furman, The Citadel and other schools like that falling to D3, or the equivalent in that scenario.
I have preferences over who I'd like to beat who, but never again will I "have" an FCS team, just like I never "had" an FBS team, till now. Its App or nothing for me.

I will still follow it as well. There are some great teams and great competition and a real honest to God championship game. I love college football and FCS, as we know, has some great football. It's incredibly hypocritical and shallow to complain about the sports community not being aware of ASU and FCS when we are there for all those years and then thumbing your nose at FCS when we move to the bottom rung of FBS.
I wish them all the best with the major exceptions of Elon and Wofford. I really hope they suck for eternity. Especially Elon.

Re: Your new FCS team
I like college football, so I'll continue to follow FCS, just like I follow DII and DIII. Of course, there is only App Black and Gold in my heart and I now want the Sun Belt to do well. A rising tide lifts all boats, as the saying goes. That said, I'm ok if Western does well (in football) because it will be good for WNC's economy. You only have to think Boone before 2005 to understand how success helps the region. I've eaten at Fatz in Marion after a game and it was full of App fans. And I will continue to pull for SoCon teams in the playoffs. I have no reason to want Eastern Washington or Northern Arizona or teams with no geographic ties to win. I do respect Montana and their fans and hope they continue to do well.
