Catalyst for the Split from the NCAA Incoming

Two options:
- agree to let the P4 railroad all decisions going forward (which they do now indirectly)
- vote against this which will speed up the split from the NCAA

Sounds like it's going to be a little of both. P4 is going to have their cake and eat it too. They'll keep what serves them, like March Madness, but change it to serve them best (taking it over, taking more of the money)...and drop what doesn't serve their interests, like changing the structure of football, new divisions, etc etc.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 10:05 amhttps://sports.yahoo.com/doc-power-conf ... 02449.html

But...maybe the conferences can and will govern things more effectively and efficiently than the NCAA? The NCAA has had decades to address these issues, is now dying on the hill that they first created and then retreated to.
This article, paired together with the other NIL Boise article...makes it pretty clear. It'll just make official what already de facto is reality.
Devils advocate, and in fairness to the big schools though, if I'm Texas or Ohio State, why should I be governed by the same policies as Gardner Webb or Western? If I make all the money, why shouldn't I get a bigger portion and have more of a say? Why should I have to prop up other schools? This can and probably will sucks for the App States of the world, but I'd get on board and salvage the best deal we can for us rather than fight it. Or stop trying to run the same race and drop to the new division. IDK; but this is all happening whether I like it or not.

The non autonomous conferences would be extremely foolish to agree to this idea. Better to have those 4 power conferences split away then let them rule us all. I really don't think a lot of the member schools of those power conferences would want to split away. Too many of those schools NEED the G5 and FCS wins to have a successful season in all sports. If the big 4 left, too many schools would always have losing seasons and the fans would stop supporting those endeavors eventually. Those power conference are like pigs feeding at the trough, no long satisfied with being just a fat pig they want to be the hogs. Well, pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered. I say let the power conferences leave and sit back and wait for the slaughter.

The NCAA is a worthless organization. The only two things they are really good at are inequitable rule enforcement and wasting money. They basically have no true authority as a governing body and need to go away.

The emphasis is now on sports and not education.... hence why the NCAA has no authority. These big schools want the team to win at any cost. Usually that cost is education, which a lot of those guys aren't getting. I just wonder how much the NFL had a hand in all of this behind the scenes.....

Reporting fake good grades in nonexistent classes = totally fine
Reporting lesser real grades from real classes = tourney ban
Good riddance. Only the IOC and FIFA rival the NCAA.
