I can't picture Chadwell at UNC. About as stark a square peg/round hole personality fit as there could be.
Yeah, I can’t visualize this either.
But I’ve been known to be wrong…just ask my wife.

UNLV does not live up to nil promises to players...now they may not be able to pay their new coach

UNLV is presumably eager to build on its best football season in history—but in true Las Vegas fashion, the Rebels will need cash to cover their latest gamble.

The school can only cover the first two years of the five-year contract it handed to new coach Dan Mullen on Dec. 12, athletic director Erick Harper said in a Board of Regents meeting reported on Wednesday morning by Mick Akers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

I was reading that this morning. I think it said they were 26 million in debt already.

I’m not sure what angle they are getting at here but there debt service #s for fy2023 were only a little higher than ours and on about 10 mm more in revenue.

This all seems like a play to get more state support or something

Schools are so desperate to appear to be more than they are that they lie about money and over pay or over promise. Schools should pay within their budget and be responsible. I don't feel bad for UNLV one bit.

I was really wondering how a peer G5 program could pay so much more than we were capable of paying a head coach. Guess the short answer is that they really couldn't.

Anyone else think more stories like this will start coming to light in the next 12-18 months?

Matt Brown said a number of schools are reconsidering their D1 status, but no one wants to be first because of increased costs.

Of many G5 schools, UNLV really shouldn't be one that's financially struggling. That reeks of mismanagement. There's a lot of money in Vegas, and not all of it is gambling money.

And BTW, UNLV fired their basketball coach today, so the money was there for that.

DLo about 1/2 to a little more than half ..

Kirby Smart makes over $13M a year

SEC coaches that make a little more than half: Florida, Texas A&M, Auburn, Arkansas, SCar, Miss St.

Boise paid $1.1M in 2024 then made the playoffs.

Loggains is obviously betting that he can get us back to where we belong and seems to have made all the right moves so far.
Hoping we can keep him for 3-5 years before he cashes in if he is successful. Wishful thinking?

What are some predictions / hopes for seasons 1 through 3 if he is with us that long?

Flagship institution of their state plus a highly successful program = more support and funding.

$1M/per win. Must be nice.

There have been a lot of changes being made. As of this moment, that’s all they are. Time will tell if they are good/bad, or if they are changes for either short term or long term.

With 50 new guys on the roster, I don't expect much this year. 6-6 would be a blessing. Won't be mad if it's slightly below that.
Year after needs to be a winning record with a bowl win/appearance.
3rd year, back in conf. title hunt or top of division and bowl win- and maybe sneak a P4 win while doing it.

Just happy we took a risk and are trying something different after 5-6 in year 5.
Just ask State fans, they've been stuck in mediocrity for 20 years. Took them 20 years to make a big basketball move...people are just waiting for Doeren to get run out.

I also have realistic expectations. But it’s hard to see DLO sticking around if App catches lightning in a bottle this season and the right P4 opportunity pops up.

Not me. My expectations are app-solutely unrealistic and it's 10 wins or bust. Better tighten up there, Coach. We need some W's.

I'm thinking either 7-5 or 6-6 depending upon the outcome of the Oregon State game.
Plus a bowl game.
Need to win against Georgia Southern and James Madison to have 7 wins.
Counting Charlotte as a win either way.

It's gonna be wild Johnny!!!
