Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
Id honestly be surprised if he jumps. Just signed an 8 year contract through 2032. Current year is 8 mil. 72 mil total. He can sit in the big 10 and deal with Ohio state each year or go to the cess pool sec for a couple more mil.
I also wouldn't underestimate Indiana money.

Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
Why go to Penn State? They will never be satisfied with his results. Indiana is taking care of him with lots of money. Everything you do at IU makes him god. They will appreciate him there regardless for the rest of his career. No brainer if I were him.

He is a Pitt grad. His ego will definitely consider that job heavily if offered. A graduate of Lil brother school gets opportunity at Big Brother school... Right up his ego ...

Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
Cig has a huge ego and will think he can fix PSU. And he might. If i were a betting man i would wager he will be in happy valley next year as the highest paid coach in the land.

Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
Agreed. He's a PA boy, He'll go home and get a few million a year bump in pay.
Looked at their remaining schedule and while nothing is guaranteed, they should win out. No OSU or Michigan. They do visit Happy Valley on 11-8

Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
If I’m PSU, I’d put all my chips on the table to get Cignetti….. he’s already a proven winner at IU….. crazy to say that. He’d kill it at PSU but it won’t come cheap. They’ll have to offer something around $11-12 M plus whatever he wants for asst pool, NIL, rev. share. While it took him awhile to get a D1 HC job, his rise and unrivaled success is nothing short of stunning. At PSU could contend regularly for a National Championship. There aren’t lots of those around.

Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
Indiana’s athletic budget is 20% larger than VTs.
Then there’s the TV deal discrepancy:
The Big Ten has a significantly larger media deal, valued at over $7 billion and projected to pay out more than $82 million per school, while the ACC's deal is valued at approximately $3.6 billion and has a complex revenue distribution with a cap around $20.5 million for even distribution and an additional 60% for performance-based rewards. This financial gap is a primary driver of conference realignment talks, as the Big Ten's deal provides much more money to its members

And he's done all of this without any violations, that I know of. He's been impressive.

Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
Cig was QB at WVU. I’m guessing he doesn’t care much for Pitt. May care for the city of Pittsburgh since he’s from there, but not Pitt.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 5:56 pmHe is a Pitt grad. The Penn St job is as toxic as it gets...winning a natty isnt enough, you havd to do it every year...If he leaves IU I dont think its for PSU

Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
Because a God at Indiana is akin to being a prophet. Being a god at Penn State is akin to becoming a deity.
That and as much money as Indiana has, they can’t compete with Penn State. I can’t imagine Alabama is beating themselves up for not going after Cignetti.
It’s still shocking that App was a kick catch interference call away from beating him twice. Not many programs can say they’ve beaten Cig multiple times, it would seem.

Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
Why do you all think he has a huge ego? He works hard and knows his craft. It isn’t ego, it’s certainty. When you work that hard, you become more assured in your craft. I’d kill to have his work ethic myself and if I were a player, I wouldn’t think twice about going to play for him, if for no other reason to learn how to work.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 5:56 pmHe is a Pitt grad. Re: Curt Cignetti teams....
Don't know if they will but they should. UNC, VT, and Penn State would all be crazy not to go for him. Cignetti and Jon Sumrall both would be doing better at UNC than Bill and for half the money.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Sun Oct 12, 2025 4:55 pmCignetti will be the hottest name in coaching searches this year...VT & Penn St are going to throw all the money in the world at him
