Re: Bucs or ducks
I hope that Oregon is up 30 on the Buckeyes at the half. Herbstreit tells fans the game is over because the Ducks are just too good. People turn the game off, 2nd half ratings plummet, advertisers are enraged and ESPN fires him. Ala Billy Packer with CBS.

Oregon all the way. Ohio State certainly looked better than I expected last night but Bama really stunk it up for most of the game. Their punter kept them in the game.

Re: Bucs or ducks
Full disclosure: I got my master's at Ohio State, so while I am by no means a huge fan of them, I always pull for them in big games like this.
That said, Oregon is fun to watch, and most people probably gravitate toward the non-traditional powers. Plus, Meyer isn't exactly the most likable coach. So I would expect most neutral fans to pull for the Ducks.

Ohio State is a great school and I have nothing against them at all. I enjoy the OSU/Michigan rivalry and all that goes with it. Having said that, working in Ohio and living in Florida I can tell you that the Wal-Mart Carolina fan pales in comparison to those from Buckeye land.EastHallApp wrote:Full disclosure: I got my master's at Ohio State, so while I am by no means a huge fan of them, I always pull for them in big games like this.

Speaking of the idiot that is "Herbstreit "... In watching the game yesterday, it became obvious of one important thing.... That knucklehead simply talks WAY TOO MUCH! I truly believe he talked more than twice what the play-by-play guy (Fowler) did. I wanted to throw up!

Nothing but respect for Marcus Mariota and the Ducks. Mariota seems to make all the right decisions running the Oregon offense and if the Ducks can play at the level they displayed against FSU, they'll be hard to stop.

Re: Bucs or ducks
As a Bama fan (second to the Apps, but a fan nonetheless), last night was a downer, but I must give OSU credit for running the ball on the Tide defense and for staying the course after going down 21-6. The Bucks are a quality team that deserved the W last night.
After watching the Oregon whip FSU in the Rose Bowl game, I am of the opinion that no one will beat the Ducks, if they play at the level displayed against the Seminoles. It just goes to show that there are a number of quality football teams across the country, the gap between the top teams across conferences seems to be getting smaller, and the SEC is not as dominant as they would like to think. After watching various bowl games this weekend, and seeing the SEC take it on the chin, it became clear that there are many quality teams outside of the SEC, and the SEC may be a bit overrated, at least this year. Obviously, TCU made a strong case for themselves and represented the Big 12 very well, while Ole Miss turned in an embarrassing performance for the SEC. Don't know what happened to the Rebs, but they appeared to be a shell of the team that started out 7-0. I thought Ga Tech really represented themselves and the ACC well, with their win over Miss State. I would have thought Miss State would be too physical for GT, but I was dead wrong. Tech and Paul Johnson don't get the respect or credit that they probably deserve. And Ohio State, Michigan State and Wisconsin certainly made a statement for the Big 10.

Father-in-law is Ohio State Alumnus (couple of nephews too), thus I guess I'll pull for the Bucs. In-laws grew up in the New Philadelphia, OH area, Italian family.
Re: Bucs or ducks
Ohio St will probably overpower them and win the game, but Oregon's style is fun to watch. Just hoping for a 41-38 type game.

Have to pull for the Ducks. The thought of the Drew Carey lookalikes spelling out O-H-I-O during "Hang on Sloopy" makes me want to hurl.

The Ducks! I am always one to pull for non-traditional powers plus I really don't like Ohio State. I have a dream that we can be the Oregon of the east.
