Supposedly this isn't a job, the school isn't his employer, and he (finally) can't be terminated. Elliot exerted pretty much the only power he has as a "student-athlete".
Poor fellow he has a $40k per year scholarship from a very prestigious university. If he is lucky he will make millions in the NFL because of that scholarship. Many of his teammates will make millions more than the non-college educated in the workforce over their non-sports related working careers because of that scholarship. Sounds like a fair deal to me and the value of that scholarship is much much more than $40k per year over a lifetime of employment or a few years in the NFL. I work for an S&P 500 company and get paid a fair salary. My company makes billions and the CEO makes millions on my and my co-workers backs. What else do they owe me other than pay that I agreed to when I was hired at the end of the month? If this fellow is powerless and exploited he has the same option I do, go somewhere else. That is life unless of course you are the CEO.

Except there is no where else to go, which is the point. What does making millions down the line (potentially) have anything to do with being compensated fairly now. I work for an S&P company as well and there are many other companies I can go work for if I don't feel in compensated fairly. CFB is the de facto minor league for the NFL and there is no other choice of where to go, sure enough you know that. Being exploited for nothing while the administrators/coaches make hand over fist in not "life" as you describe it, at least not my life.

Okay, something we can agree on- too much money in college athletics. Something we disagree on the players are not fairly compensated.

That was in reference of the landscape and money in college football changing, not Elliot's comments. I can understand why people are rubbed the wrong way by it I just don't think it's a big deal, especially after his coach agreed with him.

Please Urban put winning aside and bench these two.

Sounds like he isn't learning much in the classroom with this comment:

"Last time walking downthem steps
And that's my point of why the whole "education" pay-off doesn't exactly equal out. It's a fact most schools funnel athletes to specific majors just to keep the eligible, not to actually educate. Changes have to be made.

What does the "compensation" argument have to do with this Prima Donna shooting off his mouth about coaching decisions in the game? He has put his coach in a very difficult position. The right thing to do would be to kick his tail off the team immediately but that won't happen. Meyer knows he needs this big mouth. I believe I read the kid's contrived "apology" that basically said that he is still leaving after this year and that he really stands by his comments. Larry Fedora basically came after the SC game and admitted that he should have had Hood in the game but I don't recall Hood making public detrimental comments.

He was leaving after this year regardless of the game's outcome. Rarely does a back of his ability stick around for another season when he stands to be a first round pick. His comments were ill-timed and should have been addressed to the coaching staff not the public. However, I don't believe what he said warrants his being kicked off the team.
