Lots of people care.

Julius Peppers, Ronald Curry, Rashad McCants and many other hard working UNC student-athletes spent long hours in the library earning their degrees in African Studies. They wouldn't appreciate you taking their dedication to the classroom so lightly.
McCants 7.58 Million
Curry 12.5 Million
Peppers 150 Million

These career earnings so far have made the African Studies very popular at UNC...
Where can I sign up for a class like that?
Wee're not so different, you and me. I wish you had gone to UNC--------CH, too.

Good one. I'm always entertained by theses theads. I think it's fair to say that all of us have casual interests outside App, but to go on our message board and vehemently defend that team is an entirely different thing.

Never sent a penny to UNC.
ASU got all my money, my wife's money and my kid's money.
Season ticket holder for years.

Grew up a UNC fan before I'd ever heard of ASU much like every other North Carolina kid. You either pulled for UNC/State/Duke.

I visited ASU and never applied anywhere else. Loved it.
Still love UNC and pull for them. I DO not love them more than ASU like some of you portray it. That's fine, you just hate UNC and therefore, makes you feel good to act like someone is a traitor.
Think what ya want. No difference to me.
Go ASU...
Go UNC... Hope you win the College World Series this year...

If App is the only school that gets your financial support, that is great.

I truly don't understand how an App fan/grad could love a school that reaped the benefits of their athletes' academic fraud for the better part of two decades while soaking up state funds that App could have certainly used and then got off with a slap on the wrist. Agree to disagree, I suppose.

However, I don't think it's just people hating UNC and wanting to call you a traitor. Defending them on an App board and in some cases, doing so by taking a shot at App ("At least it wasn't a rape or anything...") will raise some eyebrows.

I won't call you a traitor for being a UNC fan if App is the only school you help fund. People will root for who they want to root for, I'll just hope that you see the light one day.

You know way too much about UNC-CH. Maybe you should start going to Kenan Stadium on Saturdays instead of KBS. I hear they have plenty of seats available.

Oh and BTW I never pulled for UNC, Duke, or NC State.

That's brilliant. You were such a big proponent of moving out of FCS and you follow up with this kind of crap. Since you and others want to drive away anyone that has ever followed another team, we might as well drop down to D3. How many of these big boy school fans also follow other teams. They're not going to turn away fans, even casual fans, and you guys want to get rid of the fans we have. Go ahead and stop the stadium expansion, tear down parts of it and sell it off for scrap, we'll only need a few hundred seats at the rate you guys are going. Bad mouth the other schools actions all you want, but it's pitiful to attack your own.

For the old Delphi crowd, I can't believe this thread is 6 pages long and there has yet to be mention of an App Law violation.

Might want to also look at the Men's Basketball APR thread... Not really stellar either.
Men's Basketball APR Falls to a dangerously low 923 compared to the national average of 952.

I'll have to try to see if I can find them. They would've had to survive two computer transfers. I make for a better pack rat than I do an archivist.

Here is why this is an issue.....I got so tired of kids while I was at App saying.....naaaa I think I'm going to watch the UNC-Duke game rather than come to the convo center and watch very good App Bball team(maybe our best team ever) led by DJ Thompson and Minter play Davidson or Western. I grew up in south Florida in the 80's and 90's where football was god. I had so many Miami Hurricane t-shirts my nickname in middle school was Miami. The day I set foot on Apps campus I put all that stuff away and became not just a Mountaineer fan but a Mountaineer myself. I used to be a Hurricane fan but I was never a Hurricane. Will I watch the Canes if they are on and App isn't? Of course but I do it wearing black and gold.

What is pitiful is going above and beyond to support/defend a school you have no connection to. I don't have a problem with casually pulling for a team on the side, but to strongly defend them then attack our fans is uncalled for. UNC-CH gets the lions share of money, exposure, and support from the State of NC, and they have always justified it based on integrity and the Carolina way. Now we all know that they not only cheated in athletics but also in academics yet some people (including some of our fans) want to act like it is no big deal. I'm just sick of people putting them on a pedestal while good schools like App nothing but crumbs from the State.

As far as moving to FBS goes, I hope some of our fans will start to put aside their old allegiances now that we are on the same level. They can no longer have an FBS team and App.

Thanks for getting straight to the heart of the issue. It doesn't matter to me if they want to be smug about their athletic/academic reputation, but when it has been proven that this arrogance has no basis in reality, they come off as hypocrites. Dropping half a mil for PR won't change that.

I have always been an App first, but when I was a kid I also liked Florida State. Once they joined the ACC I went to a couple of football games when there wasn't a conflict with an App game. It was pretty fun to watch them destroy the local ACC teams. Once I got accepted to App (the only school I applied to) I stopped following them closely and stopped wearing what little FSU merchandise I had. These days I can't name a single player on their roster. If they are on TV I will watch them if I'm not at an App game, but it's mainly just to enjoy watching them beat up on the ACC teams.
