Or you go outside the box if you are DG, acknowledge that you are AAA (which is better than falling to AA) and ink the first farm team agreement with a big SEC school. That school provides you with backing, resources and assets (players/staff) which you develop for a year or two and feed back to the SEC team. In turn, that school signs its players to 3-4 year contracts that guarantee them placement on an SEC roster or a high-level Sun Belt program with similar benefits.
Crazy…..yes. But, just adapting to the times.

Didn’t get in predicament we are today by DG being on the cutting edge. Quite the opposite actually.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 5:07 pmOr you go outside the box if you are DG, acknowledge that you are AAA (which is better than falling to AA) and ink the first farm team agreement with a big SEC school. I love this idea. Many won’t. We seem to have a natural connection with Clemson. I know that’s not SEC but it probably will be soon.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 5:07 pmOr you go outside the box if you are DG, acknowledge that you are AAA (which is better than falling to AA) and ink the first farm team agreement with a big SEC school. And Jerry Moore didn’t run the spread offense when I was in school…….AppSt91 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 5:22 pmDidn’t get in predicament we are today by DG being on the cutting edge. And Jerry did not do that just for fun. He knew he needed to make changes or he would have been fired. I was really glad he made the move because I liked having someone like him as our head coach. Sometimes you have to make major changes and take a chance. It worked out for Jerry and I have a feeling that if things don't work out between now and 2027 that the new chancellor will look for someone who can make the right moves.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 6:15 pmAnd Jerry Moore didn’t run the spread offense when I was in school…….AppSt91 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 5:22 pmDidn’t get in predicament we are today by DG being on the cutting edge. What's ironic is this idea would've seemed really crazy 3 years ago.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 5:07 pmOr you go outside the box if you are DG, acknowledge that you are AAA (which is better than falling to AA) and ink the first farm team agreement with a big SEC school. But after all the hijinks we've seen in those 3 years? It's within the realm of possibility.
To 91's point: I wouldn't hold my breath on Gillin executing any "tip of the spear" maneuvers like this. 4-D chess won't even be contemplated by an AD who's content playing Go Fish.
And Jerry Moore adopted the spread by seeing it's value without knowing how it would turn out. Conversely, Gillin had a map of the future drawn for him 5 years ago, yet still elected to do nothing.
Apples and oranges, friends.

Everybody is getting tired of the crap.

Kirby Smart on managing his roster while prepping for the playoff:
"Everybody's announcing what they're doing. I'm announcing that I'm going in the portal. I'm announcing that I'm re-signing. How about you announce that you're getting better and you're going to practice...?"

Re: G6 playoff gaining momentum
For decades people (ultimately a small percentage of fans) have criticized the NCAA for how it handled college athletics. Admittedly some of the minor infractions committed by schools resulted in stupid penalties- buying a meal for a recruit/sanctions was harsh, but overall it appears that they knew what they were doing. People cried that these poor indentured servants/student athletes received nothing and that these athletic programs were reaping millions and billions of dollars. Obviously the latter was only true for an elite few. Now those elite few got what they wanted and the remaining 95% of college football and basketball schools are a shell of what they used to be.
If someone even 5 years ago suggested that App State would become simply a farm system or feeder for a P4 team his post would have been scoffed at repeatedly. This new reality stinks and the love for college athletics is dying for many.

I don’t like where we are, but the old way was illegal. I’d like to think there is a middle, but I really don’t know.
