What is pitiful is going above and beyond to support/defend a school you have no connection to. I don't have a problem with casually pulling for a team on the side, but to strongly defend them then attack our fans is uncalled for.

As far as moving to FBS goes, I hope some of our fans will start to put aside their old allegiances now that we are on the same level. They can no longer have an FBS team and App.
All AppGrad1 did was state that he would still pull for UNCCH while pointing out that all his money goes to App and you guys told him to get lost. I don't know AppGrad1, but can't see what he did to deserve it. Does this mean I can't pull for the Ducks? I like Oregon and tend to watch their games since they're late at night, after I have come back from my App game, and plan to continue pulling for them- unless they play App.

As far as ACC men's basketball programs go, Duke led the way with an APR score score of 995. Miami followed with a 990 and NC State scored the third highest with a 984. North Carolina was eighth out of the 12 ACC schools (which includes Maryland but not newcomers Syracuse and Pittsburgh) with a score of 959. Wake Forest was the lowest scoring men's basketball program in the conference with a 942.

UNC football was lowest in the ACC and among the bottom 10 schools in all BCS conferences with a 934. NC State football posted their highest ever APR score with a 947. Duke led the ACC football programs in APR for the eighth consecutive year by scoring a 989."

Might want to also look at the Men's Basketball APR thread... Not really stellar either.
Men's Basketball APR Falls to a dangerously low 923 compared to the national average of 952.

Isn't our coach a tarhole? Capel bringing UNC APR to an arena near you. The "Carolina Way"
And who hired him? Yours and my ASU...

A big time App donor with a hard on for Tar Heels. Same man that pulled the string on bringing Buzz back.(see UNC hard on)

I have no problem with casual interest in other school's games, but even so much as wearing a Hole t-shirt is disloyal IMO.

In this day and age we only have so much time to devote to sports and so many days of the week to wear a sports t-shirt. Anytime watching the Holes or wearing a holes shirt is squandered time pulling/repping the Apps.

Actually giving money to another school via Rams Club or ticket sales ect is complete heresy. We would truly be better off without you if that is your practice.

I don't think anyone has as issue with that, but you probably won't get a good reception by coming on this board and getting all wet about them. I like watching Oregon play as well.

Season ticket holder for years.

Grew up a UNC fan before I'd ever heard of ASU much like every other North Carolina kid. You either pulled for UNC/State/Duke.

I visited ASU and never applied anywhere else. Loved it.
Still love UNC and pull for them. I DO not love them more than ASU like some of you portray it. That's fine, you just hate UNC and therefore, makes you feel good to act like someone is a traitor.
Think what ya want. No difference to me.
Go ASU...
Go UNC... Hope you win the College World Series this year...
So love is blind.

Here is a question for all of those who find sacrilege with App alums liking other teams. How do you feel about an alumni of another school being a fan and donor of ASU?

I doubt you'll get a good answer on that question.

I feel great about that. I've been very outspoken about UNC in particular and maybe too much so but the ultimate goal is to bring more support to Appalachian, which begins with our own alumni. I'm sure every other school would love to get the undivided support of their alumni as well but they are not my concern.

A key difference is that unlike UNC, Duke or NCSU, App does not have non-alumni fans by the hundreds of thousands. We have a much more pressing need for alumni support.

I know things like the situation at Chapel Hill happen at universities all over the country but the reason their case gets under my skin in particular is because we are both members of the UNC system and fight for the same funds. It affects us.

We have someone on this board that is a UNCCH alum and a great Yosef Club member as their child went to App. I love her support for App, but I would never question her if she put UNCCH ahead of App.

What drives me crazy are fans of one school that have no ties to a university other than watching them on TV growing up staying loyal to that program over their alma mater. I have a friend that watched Duke growing up, went to Wake, and today doesn't watch a Wake game unless they are playing Duke and pulls for Duke.

Thanks to the national championships and the win over Michigan, the non-alumni fan base has grown to some extent. I have a friend in which his wife and him just happened to be town to enjoy the mountains and saw the so called "Miracle on the Mountain" game and has attended many games since. Neither his wif nor hime attended any college but have become App fans, what DG likes to call "Wal-Mart fans."

Your friends do not fit the definition of Wal-Mart fans. Wal-Mart fans are those people who have an undying allegience to a school, but have never set foot on its campus. They are those folks who refer to UNC as "we" when talking about a game, but have never been to Chapel Hell.

Another "Downfall" parody is making the rounds. This one is one of the best:

As a wise man once said... The most ardent UNC & Duke fans: A- Did not attend school there B- Can not specifically tell you where it is. Usually the answer "it's near Raleigh" and C- More often than not have never attended an athletic contest on campus.

Ill tell you what's worse....seeing Unc paraphernalia for sale in stores in Boone. I even saw a uncc shirt yesterday. I enjoy watching some schools compete like UNC on occasion and in most bowl games I will have a preference but I will never wear another schools gear in fact while my daughter was at UNC I would wear App gear. Appgrads1 love of Unc doesn't bother me unless he would choose watch a unc game when an App game was available to watch......which we all know was almostvinpossible in the SmallCon.
