We don't deserve it. Hope we don't get asked or turn it down if we are.

It’s probably too late for us anyway if we were to get asked. 1.5 weeks into the offseason already

Part of me agrees. It’s been too long and the equipment is up. Then there’s another part says, “say when.”

A football NIT will come along if bowls go away...there will be too much dead TV air to fill

How do you know what the players deserve? Seniors. Walk ons. Freshman. Backups. Would they not deserve an opportunity?

The optics of being asked and turning down a game against Georgia Southern would be very bad. To the Sun Belt and to recruiting.
We don't know if we've been asked yet. It's all fluid tonight.

My main priority in the Oregon/JMU game is that our check from the sun belt for this game cashes.

Don’t know if we could field a team but it’s money and practice time. Can’t turn it down if you can field a team.

This has been the endgame ever since opt outs for players became a normalized thing. And I'm for it. Make the threshold 8 wins.

You are correct in that we do not deserve it. 6-6 is bad enough to be rewarded but 5-7 is just plain silly.

I am sorry but Notre Dame should not get special privileges, period. I know they can draw their own tv contract but they should not get a different rule for entry.

Soooooo….Say we are offered as a last resort. Annnnd we decline just to deny the stink, and even better the turncoat, one more game.
We turn down a bid just to spite them.
I was in favor of accepting if offered, but I am starting to change my mind.

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
First of all any senior who is trying to play pro ball should not risk the injury for a meaningless game. Second, a 5-7 team should not be playing in the postseason. Giving everyone a participation trophy just deludes actual accomplishment. You see all the 5-7 teams who have declined bowls? They feel the same way I do. Notre Dame does not even see the point. If it is not the CFP then it is really pointless to be honest. So many players are in the portal, just decide to sit out, etc. Many of the star players don't play and I don't blame them.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 6:44 pmHow do you know what the players deserve? Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
A lot of schools are turning it down and even if we could put a team out there we would be without several good players who entered the portal. We are already 5-7 and I don't want to see us end up 5-8. Just turn it down and focus on recruiting. We can't accomplish anything good this year but we can next year.

Not a problem for us. No pro players.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 7:30 pmFirst of all any senior who is trying to play pro ball should not risk the injury for a meaningless game. Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
Players will still opt out. With the portal window and players needing time to take visits, bowl games are pretty stupid now. The best thing to do is expand the playoff to 24 teams, give every conference an auto-bid, and begin the playoffs in early December and just space the title game 2 weeks after the semis or something.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 6:42 pmA football NIT will come along if bowls go away...there will be too much dead TV air to fill

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
Right. Your prior post is the reason why this is next to impossible, and why you’re seeing so many 5-7 teams say no. This whole “optics” mess from TK is pretty dumb.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 7:33 pmNot a problem for us. Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
If a bowl invite does come our way however slight it may be .. let players decide. If they say yes, play. If not, do not play.. simple as that. The fact there are too many bowls for a available teams is not App's problem or any other team with losing record problem. The reference to a player getting injured. They can get injured in games 1-12 or 13. They know the risk every time they suit up... If given the opportunity to vote on it if offered... Then they would have made the decision going into the game. They can opt out individually as players.do.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 7:33 pmNot a problem for us. If stating injuries are a concern... Cancel all bowl games except for playoffs.. the injury idea is weak argument to me as any player has the opportunity to opt out.
