Re: Danny Manning Fired...
Wake's roster is taking an apparent six-or-more player hit with the transition to S.Forbes as the new head coach. At least four current Deacs have entered the transfer portal and two of four early Deac signees have requested and received releases from their letters-of-intent. As late as it is and with nationwide Covid-19 stay-at-home orders in place north-south-east and west of the Wake campus, Forbes will need to do a lot of Zoom virtual recruiting visits rather than the normal on-campus, in-home, summer camp and at-school visits. The NCAA has an all-sports recruiting "dead period" in place at least through May 31st. During "dead periods" recruits cannot sign letters of intent, receive scholarships, take campus visits, and coaches likewise cannot visit recruits.

Could ETSU really pay enough to attract him? I can't imagine their basketball budget is that much more than Apps.appstate24 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 6:08 pmAny chance ETSU looks towards Kerns? He’s from that area. He and his family were really repping the Black & Gold on the Yosef Club tour tonight. GO APPS!!

But that was only last year with a 200k retention bonus. His base pay was 400k, which is still 100k more than Kerns makes with us.

I had no idea he was making that much at ETSU. Granted ESTU is more a basketball school than we are, but still....

WF is down to 2 - TWO - scholarship players - If he can't convince a couple of the better guys to drop out of the portal and come back he is going to have a tough, tough job - Hell, it is already tough but Manning had some talent and was just not a very good head coach. I would hire him to be a #1 assistant. Roy is probably the only ACC coach to do worse with the talent on hand this past season ---

The Bucs averaged 4,000+ attendance in all but one season of Forbes' time there using Freedom Hall as their home court instead of the old, on campus Mini-Dump. The year they missed the 4,000 mark they were at about 3,700. They can compete salary-wise with most mid-major, football playing institutions. (Of course, we're not speakin' of Gonzaga or Wichita State here!)
