Guess that’s why they are willing to take 4 OOC ass whippings every year for the paychecks. Seems ridiculous to do that if the money doesn’t ever work for them.ah59396 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 10:29 amSure, someone has to come in last. And if they spent like the rest of the conference I’d be willing to chalk it up to them being the conference doormat. But their budget is less than a large number of FCS teams. It’s middle of the pack in the SOCON.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 7:42 amWell the world needs ditch diggers too.ah59396 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 8:00 pmCan the Sun Belt relegate these guys and call up JMU or something?
Lose 40-7 to Liberty today and go to 0-4 on the season.
I don’t see a game on their schedule they can win, at best 1-2 wins?
Been FBS since 1994.
Never been ranked.
Never won the conference.
Never won a bowl game.
ONE winning season (8-5) in 2012
ONE bowl appearance (L 45-14 to Ohio)
What exactly is the plan down in Monroe? Go 4-8 in the Sun Belt for eternity?
Whoever their fans are must be the most loyal people on the face of the earth. We as App fans have it so good.
I mean this is tells me everything I need to know:
Louisiana-Monroe $15,568,952
East Tennessee State $22,766,27
North Carolina Greensboro $18,193,727
Tennessee-Chattanooga $18,193,292
Citadel $16,201,634
Western Carolina $14,882,283
Imagine how insane it would be if the Catamounts moved up to FBS right now. We’d all consider it a foolish decision. And yet Monroe has done it for 30+ seasons.

Re: UL-Monroe
And the weak arguments that they “almost” beat a peer school or that they beat a good school 10 years ago is irrelevant. They don’t draw fans, they have to fund 85 scholarships and they operate on a shoestring budget. I can’t believe the powers that be down there haven’t made a sane decision and drop down. It’s not like they have been good and are experiencing a down year or two.

Re: UL-Monroe
I was convinced that the budget shortfalls Covid created would be the straw that broke the camel's back forcing half a dozen or more programs to drop out of the FBS or drop their programs altogether. I still think it's possible but I'm honestly shocked that we haven't seen ULM and a MAC school or two pull the plug.

While I don't ever agree with the "relegation" fantasy for college sports, I do think ULM could be in danger of being left out if/when the next big G5 realignment happens. And if they get left without a conference, I imagine a move to FCS would follow.

Those student athletes are still gaining invaluable life experience, the students/alums that attend the games are getting the rah rah go school experience and hell, it's college. Go Sports! They'll give us a good game and more power to them for it. Quit pretending you guys are P5's.

Re: UL-Monroe
No one is arguing anything about the student athletes nor the school experience. If that were the case, let’s get Gardner Webb and Lenoir Rhyne in the Sun Belt. They offer invaluable life experience as well.mike87 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 2:52 pmThose student athletes are still gaining invaluable life experience, the students/alums that attend the games are getting the rah rah go school experience and hell, it's college.
