And I made it a point to state that. I hope that if it happens, I won’t have to come back and quote this in the future. I will say “buyer beware” though with Houston.GoBoone wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 7:41 pmJust one man’s opinion and a bit of heresy.CharlestonAppFan wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 7:33 pmGuys, I’ve bit my tongue for a long time on Houston and can’t any longer. I was privy to privileged inside info on The Citadel’s football team during his tenure and it wasn’t pretty. Very unethical methods and coaching tactics were used during his one year there and many were happy to see him go to JMU.
Now, that’s only one college stop and could be an anomaly but nonetheless, I understand that winning is great but it can come with consequences. I’m not trying to demean nor tarnish his coaching legacy (and again this is “hearsay”) but there might be a reason why he stays for only a couple of years and moves on. This is a message board and take it for what you want, but I for one don’t want him here for 2 years and see him leave a program that employs something other than what we at App stand for.
As for Satt, I want him to stay at App. I just can’t imagine him selling out our school for $ (I’m sure that it’s just me because I’ve given up other positions myself to remain loyal, right or wrong). It’s just my opinion and have at it for what you will. The grass isn’t always greener in most cases but he is a good man and his decision will be all his. If he goes, I don’t think he’ll ever be back and that’s very sad. I know I live it every day and wish I could come back to this special place. I think every poster here can relate somewhat. I’m not giving up hope....but hope is eternal and not worth much haha.

We have had several step forward and express interest , “if”. Finding a quality HC won’t be a problem, finding the right “fit” is more of a challenge.I would like to keep the one we have.

We all want him to stay at App. But to say if he leaves he’s “selling out our school for $”? Sorry but that’s garbage.CharlestonAppFan wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 7:33 pm

Satt has spent 20+ years of his life building this program, from a good-but-not-great 1-AA school to a three-time national champion and now to one of the top five G5 programs in the country. He’s arguably more responsible for this program’s ascendance than any other person (yes, including Jerry), and he’s damn sure done more for this school than anyone posting on this board.
If he wants to go somewhere that will pay him several million a year and give him the opportunity to compete for stakes that simply aren’t on the table for App right now, then I hope every one of us will tell him thanks, wish him well, and welcome him back for a visit whenever he feels like it.

Re: Mike Houston new Head Coach at Charlotte
App's kind of an anomaly in the NCAA Football world. 90% of the fan base have probably only known Moore and Satterfield as the head coaches of the Mountaineers while everyone else tends to have had quite a few more hirings. This fact probably scare a bunch of people. HC's leaving is not something App Nation is used to and a lot are worried about the status of the program after we've worked so hard to get it up from the FCS to a well-known G5 team. I'd hate to see Satterfield go but as I've said almost redundantly the team will probably be fine with the recruits we have, the history we have and the quality of the program. If we lose Satterfield, we should probably have several good potential hires to choose from.
In that event, just go with the same "Next Man Up" ideology the school shares. The team is more than just Scott. And whoever comes in knows what is expected of them.

Few schools have been as fortunate as we have been with the stability in our coaching staff. It is unsettling for those who have only been fans for the last 25-30 years. In the previous 20 years we had five HCs, and we suffered the ups and downs along the way. If Scott leaves, we hope DG makes a choice that keeps us on solid footing.

A.D. Hill was quoted as saying, "Nobody is going to steal THIS one."

Agreed. The state of NC got more competitive this off-season. UNC, EZU, and UNCC all upgraded their coaches.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 12:37 pmFantastic hire. Seriously. What he did at AP is nothing short of a miracle.

Delirious UNCC fans already saying "if he can recruit at AP, imagine what he can do here!!!"
They sincerely believe that Charlotte is the Mecca of college football.
