I read what you wrote. In my opinion, being a fan means having a loyalty. Hating their rival would certainly imply the same.
I'll root for most any local school depending on the situation but I sure wouldn't call myself a fan of anyone but Appalachian.

You are entitled to your opinion. I know how I view both.

Loyalty to one is disloyalty to another. Any time spent pulling for Holes is squandered time pulling for the Apps.
Also, anyone familiar with the governing body of the UNC System knows the identity and nature of the true enemy. I would pull for Al Quida over the Tar Holes.

I also root for LSU and UCLA ( the one in California). I have my own rooting interest for all of them. How does that make me less loyal to my alma mater?

I went to ASU. I give my money to the Yosef Club and the Appalachian Fund. I never missed a game at KBS or Varsity Gym for a televised game featuring the Tar HEELS. Why can't people just respect the decisions of others and agree to disagree?

What do you respond when strangers ask who you pull for?
I bet I already know the answer.

Meh. I'd hope the Holes would pull it out in triple overtime, only for the sake of the United States.

I wonder if some of these hole lovers hang their UNC rejection letter beside their App diploma.

I did not, but am glad you do. For the record, I feel the same way toward people who split fanship with one of the other three ACC schools in-state (or the over thousand of other colleges in America), unless they also hold a degree from one of those schools.

I wouldn't put it past some. I had a roommate my sophomore year that probably would've done that if he hadn't dropped out of App and enrolled in night classes at the Chapel Hill campus after being rejected for the second time as a transfer. Sad case.

Good grief. We're talking about those that went to college, more specifically, our college.

Begone, Tar Hole.

UNC hoops had multiple players on each of their last two national title teams that majored in African Studies, a department that basically didn't exist. UNC fans will try to push all the scandal to the football team but Roy's boys are far from squeaky clean.
Jim Martin investigated and found that the scandal was so widespread that it was an academic issue and not athletic, because non-athletes took the fake classes too. Somehow, that means all the players who got grades for classes they never attended are off the hook. I'd love to see how an investigation headed by someone outside of North Carolina would have turned out.

Or if the offending party was a school other than the Chapel Hill campus.
