If we keep the track please go to charcoal color rather than what it is now.

Capacity was 40,000 through 1981 and it is still 12,000* seats more than KBS, or two and a half times our "expansion".WVAPPeer wrote:Their website lists the total capacity at 33,941 - here's the wording from their site ---Kgfish wrote:...and they had 40,000 permanent seats.WVAPPeer wrote:Yep - but when Alabama came there as defending National Champions and ranked #1 the track circled Wallace Wade ---
If we do something like this I won't have an issue with the track.

"The current capacity is 33,941 and, in 2008, Duke drew a single-season record four crowds of 30,000-plus fans. "
But that wasn't the point - Wasn't the point that someone said we would never get a team like NCS or anyone else as long as we had the track? ---

again, not arguing the amount of seating - Wasn't the comment that we couldn't get "name" teams to come to KBS because of the (visual of the) track? - Are you in agreement with that?Kgfish wrote:Still 12,000* seats larger than KBS or two and a half times more than our "expansion".WVAPPeer wrote:Their website lists the total capacity at 33,941 - here's the wording from their site ---Kgfish wrote:...and they had 40,000 permanent seats.WVAPPeer wrote:Yep - but when Alabama came there as defending National Champions and ranked #1 the track circled Wallace Wade ---

That was one person. I think the valid argument has to do with available seating. If we had 30,000 seats I don't think the track is an issue. Of course, ODU is hosting some ACC teams in the not too distant future. I'm not sure of the time frame on their stadium upgrade.WVAPPeer wrote:again, not arguing the amount of seating - Wasn't the comment that we couldn't get "name" teams to come to KBS because of the (visual of the) track? - Are you in agreement with that?Kgfish wrote:Still 12,000* seats larger than KBS or two and a half times more than our "expansion".WVAPPeer wrote:Their website lists the total capacity at 33,941 - here's the wording from their site ---Kgfish wrote:...and they had 40,000 permanent seats.WVAPPeer wrote:Yep - but when Alabama came there as defending National Champions and ranked #1 the track circled Wallace Wade ---

That picture must be altered in some low down dirty way. No self respecting program would ever have a track around their field. If it were true, Kansas would have to play all their games away because nobody would ever go there.Kgfish wrote:...and they had 40,000 permanent seats.WVAPPeer wrote:Yep - but when Alabama came there as defending National Champions and ranked #1 the track circled Wallace Wade ---

True it would hurt peoples eyes so much they would end up being sued. Plus why wouldn't they put seats there, I'm sure everyone would love to watch a football game from ground level.bcoach wrote:That picture must be altered in some low down dirty way. Hey - here a site with some pictures of Boise State's field - that reddish/orange thing around the field is actually a mirage - sure as hell wasn't a track
- their 5th largest attendance of all-time was against Nevada (35,000+) who also has a mirage around their field ---
No way they could have gotten to the "Big Time" with a track around their field ---
AGAIN, I am not arguing against more seats making KBS look better and more fan friendly - only commenting on stadiums with tracks ---

Re: Troy announces Home and Home with NC State
I think you beat that horse.
I believe the consensus here is that it is all about physical seats available. I personally interpreted the comment about the track to be that it is prime real estate that should be used for stadium expansion. Most larger stadiums do not have a track because it is more logical to use that space for seating. I would rather the track be removed and replaced with seating but that is not the only option.
Regardless, we need more physical seats, 30k should be the logical minimum.

Boise also has plans to remove their track for their next round of expansion.WVAPPeer wrote:Hey - here a site with some pictures of Boise State's field - that reddish/orange thing around the field is actually a mirage - sure as hell wasn't a track- their 5th largest attendance of all-time was against Nevada (35,000+) who also has a mirage around their field ---

Re: Troy announces Home and Home with NC State
The track is a non-issue to me and to getting a "big school" here. Unless we move the current seats in 10 feet no one (except for a few people on here to make a point) is going to want to sit on almost ground level seats to watch a football game. Since we can't just "slide" the current seats forward, we'll have to build somewhere else.WVAPPeer wrote:Again, that is not the pointJTApps1 wrote:Boise also has plans to remove their track for their next round of expansion.WVAPPeer wrote:Hey - here a site with some pictures of Boise State's field - that reddish/orange thing around the field is actually a mirage - sure as hell wasn't a track- their 5th largest attendance of all-time was against Nevada (35,000+) who also has a mirage around their field ---

https://www.google.com/search?q=picture ... 42&bih=565- Yeah, I have beat this up BUT to say we won't get major opponents until we get rid of the track can be disproven by other stadiums - Look, if some donor or rich MMB poster came forward with the cash and said REMOVE THE TRACK TODAY - I would be as happy as you other guys - Just don't see that happening so we must deal with it ---
Adding 2-6 sections on to sections 107 and 207 would give all the seats we need with nothing but grading and cement. It's a no brainer.
