If that is the case then I guess we would have the answer as to the culture.WVAPPeer wrote:Personally I would be surprised if Butch was let go - they have been struggling in football for several years and been through several coaches - "on the field" it looks as if he has them on the right track - I would imagine there would be great pressure asserted on the powers to be to not send the Vols football back to the Vandy level ---

So you think football is more important to these people than the University reputation. Interesting....

To many people, I have no doubt that football is more important than the reputation of the university.

If I were AD the culture would be the same as the culture Dick Sheridan had at Furman and NC State. You put yourself in a position to even be accused and you are gone. A young man helped a visibly upset woman who had been assaulted, was demeaned in front of the program, assaulted by fellow players as a traitor....Coach says Dont touch that player...like Jack Nicholson said "Santiago is not to be touched" but got a Code Red anyway....wink wink.
Jones needs to be gone. The other coaches need to be ashamed that they even participated in this whitewashing. The AD needs to be gone and UT needs to man up.

Re: Problems at UT-K
It wasn't that long ago that a poster (App alum) on this board indicated that academics/reputation was unimportant when it comes to college athletics. I believe that discussion was about Liberty U. He was wrong on a number of levels, but most conspicuously when it comes to team eligibility (see Jason Capel).appst89 wrote:appbio91 wrote:So you think football is more important to these people than the University reputation. I don't see how supporting our team to hopefully beat this crowd has any impact on the issues at UT. If anything it would make witnessing an App win even sweeter.bcoach wrote:Already bought my tickets. Not sure I am going to go. Have to put a lot of thought to this one.

Unfortunately it is, at far too many universities ---appbio91 wrote:So you think football is more important to these people than the University reputation. Interesting....

Remember Penn State? - How has Florida State (whom I happen to like) avoided any major problems for all these years? - UConn men's basketball under Calhoun? - of course, UNC-CHeat is the worst, but there are others --- Calapari? - you wouldn't think Kentucky cares more about their reputation that winning in basketball? ---

I freaking love this attitude. Thank you for posting! Nothing is more important than integrity. I believe we have a stand up kind of guy leading our FB program now. I hope our AD has the same values. Reading his piece in recent Black and Gold publication I believe he does.Rekdiver wrote:AMEN!bcoach wrote:If that is the case then I guess we would have the answer as to the culture.WVAPPeer wrote:Personally I would be surprised if Butch was let go - they have been struggling in football for several years and been through several coaches - "on the field" it looks as if he has them on the right track - I would imagine there would be great pressure asserted on the powers to be to not send the Vols football back to the Vandy level ---

Re: Problems at UT-K
How many App fans abandoned the program during the "No Equal! No More!" campaign about Tanston Tanyi, Ed Gainey, etc. and the university's response to their investigations?

You don't abandon the program because people screw up be they players or Administration anymore than me abandoning America should Trump, Hillary or Bernie be elected. You tough it out and try to fix it.

If any of those three get elected it will be to late to fix it.Rekdiver wrote:You don't abandon the program because people screw up be they players or Administration anymore than me abandoning America should Trump, Hillary or Bernie be elected. You tough it out and try to fix it.
