Yeah, well I get your point, but Auburn, UCLA, Alabama, SMU, etc. didn't spend the last 50 years claiming their s--t doesn't stink and then drop half a mil doing PR to clean it up. Many schools play dirty, but only UNCheat could be so hypocritical. But, of course, that's "The Carolina Way." I've got their carolina way hanging.TDASU wrote:HaHa! Some of you guys are a riot! The lack of the almost weekly scandals including the biggest and most institutionally-intwined case of academic fraud in NCAA history perhaps? Or maybe it's that those schools haven't made a brand of their arrogance with "The Carolina Way." What a joke.TDASU wrote:HaHa! Some of you guys are a riot! Real comedians! Was that "hate" matter-of-fact enough for you? I believe you're confusing rationalizations with just plain old reality. The Tar Holes exemplify every thing wrong with modern college athletics and higher education in general.
Scum of the Earth. Please go find some Koolaid-drinking Tar Hole board to feed your delusions and please, PLEASE, BURN YOUR DIPLOMA IF IT SAYS APPALACHIAN ON IT.

I don't see what's surprising here. Fans of one school talking bad about a different school--imagine that! I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this type of talk is common among fanbases across the country. I grew up a UNC fan, but as the good book says, I put away childish things.

I don't know enough about every school in the U.S. to call them the most corrupt institution in the country.TDASU wrote:HaHa! Some of you guys are a riot! Real comedians! However, they are an institution that has had corruption uncovered left and right over the last few years and unlike all those other schools you mentioned, they get the lion's share of funds from the UNC system that Appalachian is also fighting for.
College athletics and higher education is general is a cutthroat environment and I care about nothing but what is best for ASU. When the flagship institution in the UNC system has players remaining eligible by getting grades in fraudulent courses and their highest profile sport gets away scot-free, that only magnifies our competitive disadvantage.
Not only do they have infinitely more resources than Appalachian, East Carolina, etc. but they can be discovered as cheats and get a slap on the wrist for transgressions that would have any other school in the UNC system burned at the stake. What punishment did they really receive? Vacating a couple of 7 or 8-win seasons and a single year bowl ban? Yeah, that will teach them.
Do a real investigation, declare all the players who took no-show classes ineligible and give them what they deserve: a couple less banners in the Dean Dome. That would be a just punishment and something that would actually strike a nerve in Chapel Hill. The damage to their reputation might also loosen their stranglehold on funding from the UNC system and maybe even get some Appalachian graduates to shed the baby blue and lend their support to the Apps as they go through a very important transition.

It would be nice to say that we have scoreboard on the National Champs, and that after we beat them, they were too chicken to play us on that cold Sunday.TheMoody1 wrote:AppGrad1 wrote:Cocks on the couch watching the Heels in the College World Series this year...

Other than that, I don't think you have much to worry about. The ACC doesn't win CWS titles (except for Wake Forest back during WWII).

FACTS ---
"The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years.
As far as ACC men's basketball programs go, Duke led the way with an APR score score of 995. Miami followed with a 990 and NC State scored the third highest with a 984. North Carolina was eighth out of the 12 ACC schools (which includes Maryland but not newcomers Syracuse and Pittsburgh) with a score of 959. Wake Forest was the lowest scoring men's basketball program in the conference with a 942.
UNC football was lowest in the ACC and among the bottom 10 schools in all BCS conferences with a 934. NC State football posted their highest ever APR score with a 947. Duke led the ACC football programs in APR for the eighth consecutive year by scoring a 989."

Curry 12.5 Million

These career earnings so far have made the African Studies very popular at UNC...
