South Florida is 7-1
Memphis is 7-1
Boise in 6-2
Although personally I would like to see Toledo go, if these teams win out (and they all can't win out) I believe the preference would be an AAC team and we all know how Boise still gets "more respect" than maybe they deserve ---
I think that you are right that it will come down to one of the three AAC schools. Although they are going to cancel each other out with head to heads. I think that Toledo can get in at 12-1 if, and a big if, SMU beats Memphis, USF beats UCF and Memphis beats USF in the title game.

If UCF runs the table - and they have a lot of tough work left to do - they'll be an interesting test case for the CFP.

Playing in the best G5 conference, they're winning conference games by an average 27 points. Overall their average margin is 31 points. Their closest game is a 10-point road win over Navy. Next closest is 27 (over a Memphis team the committee has in the top 25).

The beat Maryland by 28. They scheduled Georgia Tech but the game was canceled due to the hurricane.

On top of that, they're a massive school that's located in a decent-sized TV market and won the Fiesta Bowl just a few years ago.

If that team wins out and doesn't make the playoff, what G5 team ever will?
Unless Clemson, Notre Dame, Penn State, Wisconsin, Miami, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., Georgia, Alabama, and TCU all have two losses UCF won't be considered.

Don't get your assumption here - Hell, UGA didn't even blow us out compared to what they have done to SEC opponents --- Why do you assume anyone from the MAC would blow us out?
UGA is a wayy better team now. We have regressed. Rematch would look like the VT game bcoach says never happened.
Because it didn't!

Well if they win out then hey should stay in the top 25 and this get to the NY6 game. What are the criteria for a NY6 invite? I know that you have to be a Conference Champ. What else?
If you mean the G5 invite, it's simply the highest-ranked of the five conference champions.

But I wasn't talking about the NY6, I meant the actual playoff.

I think you're probably right. I'm just saying if that happens it would kind of put the lie to the idea that all 130 teams at least theoretically are eligible for the playoff. So far there hasn't been a G5 team in contention at all.

SMU's next three are UCF, Navy and Memphis. If they split the first two and then beat Memphis (and Tulane), then you could potentially have a 9-3 SMU or 9-3 Houston in the title game. If that team then upset UCF/USF, AAC would likely be out of the running for the NY6.

Gotcha. Sorry, I misread your statement. I have no dilutions of a G5 ever making the CFP.

True - not going to happen under the current set-up ===
