I agree with the “helps exposure” comments. I also question the reasoning. How many 18 year old recruits are even watching these games at all? Do schools do any type of surveys with kids who sign? “What made you come to school X?” “Was it because we played on television on Wednesday’s?” How can anyone possibly get hyped to play in front of a crapload of aluminum?

Commissioner basically says tough sh.. fans. We are going after the money. Exposure? So in all these years of “added exposure “ the MAC is still just a good G5 conference. Still don’t see the huge upside for added exposure. It’s not like the conference sends a team to the playoff. Yeah they have a good team every now and then- N Illinois and W Michigan. Look at both of those teams this year. Load of crap. No game day experience at all

How difficult would it be to schedule them only after a "bye"? It is ,after all ,only conference matchups that we are talking about.

I think the MAC may actually have regressed since the BCS era. Seemed they often had at least one team in the top 25 back then. Now, outside of WMU's lightning-in-a-bottle season, they're basically competing with CUSA and the Sun Belt to avoid being the worst FBS conference.

I have to believe that each school could easily make at least that much in profit from Saturday home crowds. That just isn't much money at all. If they only get 7000 more in attendance for each of the 6 Saturday home games that most G5 schools play it would be 42k more fans. Even at only $25 per ticket, that would be over a million in extra revenue. Surely a Saturday game would bring 7k more fans, and I am sure the tickets are more than $25. This seems like a really poor decision to me.

As we know, fannies in the seats don't equal ticket sales. I have no idea what their season ticket numbers look like.

I would absolutely hate it if we played Tuesday or Wednesday night games, but it doesn't bother me that the MAC does. If its a decision they can live with or think benefits them, then so be it.

Is it worth it for Sun Belt teams to gain the Thursday (or Wednesday) night "exposure on the U" for the measly $100k each program gets? I can't even find the viewership numbers for App's Thursday match up against GS.

At $30 a ticket, a Saturday showdown of GS v App would only need to see attendance increase by an additional 3,333 paying fans to recoup that $100k without taking concessions into account. The last Thursday game had an attendance of 23,110 and I believe our rivalry could easily draw 26,443 fans most years if played on Saturday.

That would work for App State who draws a decent middle week crowd, but not for most Sun Belt teams.
