Re: Conference USA announces new multimedia deal
According to the Pilot article, CUSA is doubling their pay from $200k to $400k with the new deal. It’s being rumored over on CSN that Sun Belt programs are getting $500k with the new deal.
Personally I like the Sun Belt deal even if the money rumors aren’t true. All Sun Belt games will be on ESPN/2/U and ESPN+ while CUSA fans have to go across multiple platforms (CBSSN, Stadium, Facebook, BeIn and CUSAtv) to find their games. I’m sure we’ll see an increase of the $4.99 monthly ESPN+ charge but as it stands now, that is half of what CUSAtv’s monthly charge ($10.95) is currently unless you purchase the $99.95 yearly subscription.
It will be interesting to see which conferences’ gamble pays off. The Sun Belt has tied itself to a declining ESPN while CUSA is rolling the dice on potential by divvying up across multiple streaming platforms.

Looks like their strategy of annexing "big market" teams really paid off. They suck at football AND they're going broke.
