Re: JMU
I don't goof on JMU, I would be very happy to be in a conference with them. I just for the life of me, can't comprehend what makes them think that the AAC of all conferences would choose them (an FCS transition) over any number of already FBS schools.
It literally makes 0 sense.

Re: JMU
I’ve grown tired of them. They’ve been given far more credit than they’ve deserved, and had their chance and passed. Anyone who is losing FCS games and yet still thinks they’d be the best of the G5, needs a serious reality check.

Re: JMU
JMU's Bourne is dreaming if he thinks the AAC is going to call them. The only way thats going to happen is if there is a major conference realingment and there are much better schools and programs than jmu. Thats cool stay in the FCS.

Re: JMU
They sound like the hot girl who won't date anyone in her school because they're not good enough, buys into her own hype, then ends up as a career Hooter's girl.
Hypothetically if the Sunbelt East got so good they could cherry pick and form their own conference they'd still say no because the TV deal just wouldn't be there. They don't want to be involved in building anything, they just want to waltz in and collect the big money and fabulous prizes.

Re: JMU
Some of us did and for some that think we are moving to the ACC we still do. It is hard not to sound that way when you believe in your school, and for JMU being in a bit of a state of denial about where you are in the hierarchy of college football.AppNation85 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 4:26 pmLOL my god I hope we never sounded that stupid and naive when we were FCS.

Re: JMU
JMU sponsors 58 teams and that number includes what the school spends on diversity programs (hyperbole, yes, but their budget has items that we wouldn’t consider athletics, and they do sponsor a ton of sports).

Re: JMU
Virginia requires its schools to report athletic finances in a manner different than most states, which skews all of their numbers.
One Virginia school had a chance at the AAC, but VCU told them to take a hike and the conference went with Wichita instead.

Re: JMU
Yea those numbers, while at least some measure, are really meaningless. Schools use a hodgepodge of methods to come up with those numbers. Like comparing an orange and a brick.

Re: JMU
JMU is delusional. Take your time, do it right. I’d blame the fans for just being fan-atics, but it sounds like their front office is just as delusional. I’d love to get out of the SunBelt, but I appreciate their willingness to take us and all we can do is continue to work hard, garner national attention, get the Charlotte market following us more and hope that a stronger conference takes a chance on us to bolster their conference one day. But we will have to earn it.

Re: JMU
I don't see how JMU is appealing to AAC. It's defiantly not through tv market. Virginia Tech has that whole 81 corridor locked up and Charlottesville/UVA is just due east of there.
At least with us, if we had to make the argument/sales pitch. We are technically in the Charlotte television market. And if it came to push and shove, I highly doubt the 49ers would ever cut into our market share, not at their current success rate.

Isn't it something like 70% of their budget is funded by student fees?Rekdiver wrote: ↑Tue Oct 16, 2018 8:37 amJMU has some of the highest student fees in the nation. $1,400 per full time student goes to athletics..........
