Re: Paul Johnson retiring at GT
Just saw that myself. I wonder if Woody wants his old job back or if he has been groomed to take Tech over.

Not necessarily. Woody might a be older, but if anyone deserves a shot at HC, especially at a school, like Wofford, that runs TO, then Woody would fit.

Crap, not even off the hook with Louisville and already another one to worry about.

I read they want out of the option style offense ,they got the dollars and this is not good.

Re: Paul Johnson retiring at GT
This one worries me most. It’s close-ish to their families, it’s in the center of his already known recruiting footprint, and he already has a year of transition taken away due to woody’s tenure there. The talent there could probably transition to a pistol type offense easily and easier getting good recruits at a P5 school.
I think this is an ideal job for Neal Brown...

I hope Doug Gillen has called Mike Houston and told him to wait a few days before accepting the UNCC deal...
Between Louisville/Purdue/GT I just don't see how we make it through.
Man and I thought we were done after UNC

If this was a "forced" retirement, they may already have their next coach lined up. Would probably become public knowledge shortly. Having Woody already there makes this one a little too convenient.

If* we do lose Satt....is the answer already on staff for us or do we try to look elsewhere?

I thought Scott would be a good fit for GT. Nice home in Buckhead...close to work and a D coordinator he’s comfortable with. And you are right. He would be in the middle of his recruiting base.

Re: Paul Johnson retiring at GT
Personally I think they'll go after a coach who uses the triple option far more than App State employs it

Driving from Buckhead to downtown ATL any day is 100x worse than driving BR to Boone on an icy day.
Or at least that's what we should tell Scott.

And if Satt does go, Mike Houston can always pull a Frank Beamer and renege on his acceptance to coach UNCC...Beamer was set to be UNC's coach way back in the day before he had a change of heart and went to VT

If he has to go somewhere, this would be a little less painful for me. My daughter is a Tech grad which means that a LOT of my money went there, so I feel a little invested and It would be nice to see that program move forward.

Re: Paul Johnson retiring at GT
I don't know who it would be. My guess is in this scenario, Satt takes the entire staff minus Bryan Brown and Dale Jones to GT, and Brown leaves to be DC at Auburn.GastonApp09 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 28, 2018 2:49 pmIf* we do lose Satt....is the answer already on staff for us or do we try to look elsewhere?
