Satterfield saying
Does anyone know what satterfield said that supposedly originated at UT? I saw people mad on Twitter about it (specifically gonzo) and I dont know what it is about.

Re: Satterfield saying
It's the "Today I give my all for Appalachian State". Of course, they morphed it to Louisville. Dale Jones, I believe, is the one who brought it from Tennessee.

Re: Satterfield saying
I did not like him reaching out and flipping our committed QB. I don’t like this either. He should have went with GATAL instead of TIGMAFL. I expect their helmets will get black “L” stickers on them next.

You would think for what he’s being paid he could come up with something original......

Remember it was said many times on this board and elsewhere Coach Satterfield "bleeds black and gold."

The saying goes much farther back than 1989.

Re: Satterfield saying
Wow! I've never heard of such a thing. This is unprecedented. I mean....I've NEVER heard of a coach adapting a successful practice from his previous program at his new school. Isn't it part of the coaching oath that each new position / program should start at ground zero so that the wheel can be re-created?
Seriously, I understand the knee jerk reaction to this but it really feels like we are just looking for things to be upset about right now.

Ledford did it when he went to State with his “Band of Brothers” but he wasn’t the HC so few paid attention. Wonder if B. Brown will name his secondary “The Legion of Boone”?Yosef84 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 30, 2018 7:44 amWow! I've never heard of such a thing. This is unprecedented. Re: Satterfield saying
I’m sure we all expected Satt to take some key assistants with him, and maybe even recruits, but the TGIF thing cuts a little too much into our culture. Sure, there isn’t a trademark, and somewhere back in time, someone used it before us, but this move just quickly, effortlessly, unnecessarily took something that meant a lot to us and moved it north as if it really wasn’t meant for us in the first place. It just seems to imply that Louisville is at a higher level, so it shouldnt matter. Overreaction? Maybe, but pardon if some of us aren’t donning the red and white and saying “take all you want” and “Louisville is now my #2 team.” I couldn’t care less about them but I still care about all of our traditions and culture; even if it’s a beat up old sign with TIGMA on it.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 30, 2018 7:44 amWow! Re: Satterfield saying
I was a minister for nearly 50 years before retiring in August. In my preaching I borrowed from other preachers I had heard and liked. My preaching professor in Divinity School said " There's no such thing as an original sermon." Ergo, I borrowed from someone, who borrowed from someone, who........You get my point. If Satt wants to borrow something we borrowed from UT, so be it. I hope it works for him.

Re: Satterfield saying
The fact that a P5 is taking our traditions is a bit flattering. Your welcome Louisville.
On a side note, what’s the consensus about dropping Satt from your twitter follow? I really dislike all the Louisville propaganda, and seeing Him in red still stings. He was my QB when I was in school and I love what he has done for App, but all the “Ville” stuff is annoying. Perplexed on my course of action.
