Just curious. NDSU content to dominate fcs forever or intend to move up? Must be getting ho hum for them by now, 7 of the last 8 NC’s. Is there a problem with them fitting into a fbs conference because of location?

And why is it that all the announcers seem to be able to pronounce Bizon when it's spelled Bison, but can't say Appalachian correctly?

Good point. I realize that supposedly in some parts of the country that is considered the correct pronunciation of Appalachian, but when referring to our college it should be pronounced as the people of that school pronounce it, or people of the region in which the school is located. I mean, how many in sports broadcasting have not heard the radio call of us beating Michigan by our radio broadcast crew?

No offense to NDSU, but the FCS is so watered down, what they have done does not seem as special as when GS or App dominated the FCS ranks.

Broadcaster referred to NDSU today as champions of the world. Really?

Have to think they’d contend in the MWC immediately.

NDSU's Pres. and AD are on record for maintaining the status-quo for the foreseeable future. They've done studies on MWC travel and time away from class for all of the sports that they sponsor and the estimates, they say, are "simply out of the question." They are also not interested in any "football only" situation.

NDSU is the guy you know who plays Madden on “Beginner” so that he can win every game 75-0. I think they are an excellent program but they’ve got no guts to actually challenge themselves.

That makes sense. I know they’ve had a few good years in basketball, but I’ve never seen their name come up in any other sport. Sure, the football team could contend in FBS right away, but what about baseball, volleyball, basketball, etc?

The same could be said about App.

NDSU has more P5 wins in the last 10 years than we do. They brought 12-15k fans over 1000 miles to their FCS title game. We brought 4500 the 700 miles to Nola. The same reason we didn’t want New Mexico State and Idaho in SBC——unrealistic travel expenses and time away from class is why they likely stay where they are (I have no information other than my intuition). It’s almost 2000 miles from Fargo to San Diego State for example. They are totally different than JMU.

I know our record against P5 competition is not glorious, but typically we are playing the strongest P5s year to year. What is NDSUs signature P5 win, Iowa? It was good, but.....

A win over a team in a P5 conference isn’t necessarily a “P5” win. Would we be ecstatic if we beat Kansas or Illinois now?

We have our chance in UNC and USCar both are down this season, but we'll see what next season brings.
As far as NDSU, Sagarin has them 19 and we are 36, they are getting respect for being a big fish in the small pond. APP has made the right move by climbing out of the FCS
the 2018 APP team is the best overall in our history so far with quality of depth and defensive play. I'd say hands down we'd whip NDSU and prove Sagarin incorrect in his power ranking. If it wasnt for that concussion in Gnatsboro, we'd be ranked a lot higher. Hell, Penn State is 11th with 4 losses and should have 5.

Next week walk into 20 different sports bars in large NC cities and ask who won the FCS championship and I guarantee hardly anyone would know the answer.

Except that App had seen sporadic success in men’s and women’s basketball as well as softball and baseball before the move up. Again, I haven’t done much research on NDSU, but I’ve never seen them mentioned in any sport other than football.
