SOURCES: The Arizona Cardinals have interest in #TexasState head coach Jake Spavital for the offensive coordinator job under Kliff Kingsbury. (They coached together at Houston.)

Correct. Don't think he's even coached a game for them. The Kingsbury hire in itself is a head scratcher for me.

Re: Another Sun Belt coach gone?
They hired Kingsbury specifically to work with Josh Rosen. He's the "QB Whisperer". Apparently, this is more important to the Cardinals than X's and 0's and success as a Head Coach./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 1:37 pmCorrect. i know schools aren't loyal to coaches (but, at least they carry out their financial obligations). You would think this whole accept and then, resign and take a new position would not look good on resumes for future opportunities. i wouldn't hire a coach with that history, if I were an AD.

Re: Another Sun Belt coach gone?
I know it sounds bad, but I really hope this is a failure for the cardinals.
1) Firing Steve Wilks after only 1 season is BS. Ron Rivera has turned out to be a pretty solid coach for the panthers, and they had a really bad 1st season and similar circumstances. It takes time for a HC to learn the ropes, get the players they want in their system, and those players to learn that system. Really think it is shortsighted to fire any coach after 1 year, especially when the team wasn't good to start with.
2) I think it is a low integrity move to move on from a job that you accepted then jumping ship before you ever start to work because a better offer came along. Especially at this point of the offseason. I know the NFL is a bigger and better opportunity, but USC and TX St, has been rebuilding around both of these guys, (I know KK wasn't the HC) and to leave now is really tough for the schools to move forward.
3)When did it become "sexy" for NFL teams to hire NCAA coordinators as HC and OC? For someone who just fired their HC after 1 year for bad performance seems to be taking a hell of a risk on guys who have never coached a down of football in the NFL OR had any head coaching experience.
