Speir Extended for Five Years at WCU

Coach Speir has a received a five year extension at Western. Best of luck to him.

I’m really glad for him. I’m a little surprised with that long of an extension, but he is a solid dude, and I hope he does really well there for a long time. He turned that program around, but hopefully he can get over the hump and make it an FCS contender in the next few years

Speir sat behind us on plane ride from Asheville to New Orleans for bowl! What a class act him and his wife.

Side note to add:
Looks like Shawn Elliot is raiding Speir’s cabinet to fill some voids in his staff.
Brad Glenn is going to be his new OC.
There are many former App coaches and players in these 2 programs

Western is the only team I root for in FCS. I hope coach succeeds.

“While we were not able to fund the football program anywhere close to our peers in the Southern Conference during Mark’s first seven years, he was still able to achieve three seven-win seasons – that speaks volumes to his, and his staff’s, ability to recruit and coach. Now that we finally have been able to reasonably fund the football program, I look forward to our successes on the field over the next six years.”

Their AD must have finally gotten Thunder Collins to write them another check.

Good luck to Speir and WCU. I know it seems like blasphemy on here to say this, but I pull for Western in the SoCon now also. I don't have time to watch many FCS games but I do check the standings and keep up with how they are doing.
