I'm sure no one here would take a much higher paying job if offered.
It’s not that he left, no one should begrudge him for that. It is the circumstances around the departure that are an issue.
Please explain. I don't remember any special circumstances. Maybe I forgot something.
The specifics are not message board fodder. Let’s just say he gambled with chips that he shouldn’t have. He lost and in turn, some people got hurt.
Anytime you have a sea change at the top, there’s always a few casualties. I don’t know any specifics but since they have not come out, I’m going to assume it’s not devastating to the program. Although I’m sure the people personally affected would differ.

As long as he intentionally didn’t try to hurt the program, I wish him well. But mostly in the context of him doing well will attract other hungry young coaches to stop here.

I hope he succeeds at UL, and he did a lot for App and has a huge part in getting us where we are today, but I have a hard time really caring about what he is doing there, and really don’t see UL becoming a serious contender in the ACC any time soon

The man gave 25 years of his life to APP State - most likely more than anyone on this board - don't understand the negative attitudes toward him????????????
You would be surprised how many people post here who were around App much longer than 25 years but that is beside the point. I don't think people are negative towards him and I certainly am not. I think we all wish him well and will check to see how he does here and there but we are App State fans.

He is now a Cardinal and his focus will be there. Our focus should be on App State. That's all. I'll check to see how they are doing mid-season and at the end of the year but I'm not going to obsess and check their scores every week. I truly wish Scott well just like he wishes us well but I 100% bleed Black and Gold and Drink is our man now.

Been attending App games for 34 years. And I’m not even close to one of the longest serving App fans on this board.

"Attending games" doesn't compare to working 25 years, day in and day out, for the betterment of Appalachian State University ---

Ok, then Chuck still qualifies. He’s poured heart and soul into this university for longer than most have been alive.

I, for one, WVAPPeer have not intentionally made a disparaging remark about him. He left us twice, but I would not be surprised if way in the future he returns to a higher position such as AD or assistant AD. Just a thought.

He'll likely do fine at Louisville. It may take a while, however.

Agreed. Buzz deserves negative attitude. Satterfield does not.

He's a Cardinal now. He is a former Mountaineer.
No. He earned a degree from Appalachian State. He will always be a Mountaineer— no matter where he works.

Now, if he had left and gone to CHeat, my view would be somewhat hypocritical. But he didn’t, so I am thankful I don’t have to defend that.
Only way I would feel betrayed by Scott is if he went to Stink. The man's career is coaching. If he had an opportunity to go to a bigger program where he felt he could be successful to further his career, and most importantly support his family, he had to take it. Louisville will be a challenge but I wish him the best. I left 3 jobs I loved to climb the ladder in the industry I chose. With every step I became more financially stable. Its the nature of advancement and each person has to decide what's best for them.
