Re: UCF
It’s obviously not as simple as just one team “getting UCF’s votes” though. UCF is #18. They’ll almost certainly drop out, which means every voter who ranked them will replace them with someone, but also all the teams who they had ranked behind UCF will likely move up a spot.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 10:09 pmOr Cincinnattiyosef69 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 9:54 pmThey dont look top 25... thinking smu will get themappstatealum wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 9:29 pmWonder if we would pick up UCFs votes if they lose another one....?
IOW, we’ll be among the teams who gain points from this result.

Re: UCF
Yeah. Most AP voters who favor UCF respect what the G5 is doing, we should get a long look from them. This ULL game just got a little more important for us (if that's possible).

Re: UCF
Louisiana is a HUGE game for us! Beat them with 2 very winnable games after them and we’re looking at 7-0 going into Halloween against the Stink. If we make it to 7-0, we’ll get ranked again.

Re: UCF
This game helps in that it eliminates UCF from the polls but, like you said, we have more pressure on our game. If we lose we are done for being ranked and our major goals are dashed. I would suspect Cincy picks up some votes but we should gain in this. Cincy did not even show well against Ohio State so as long as we win by more than the spread we should definitely gain from this.appstatealum wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2019 10:37 pmYeah. Re: UCF
Like I said before, let's just worry about going 1-0 every week. We have to beat ULL. This game does not help us if we don't help ourselves next week. We will be ranked before the end of October as long as we keep winning. We just need to show well against ULL and play like a ranked team. Voters will just leave us the same if we don't impress. We really need to win decidedly against ULL to pick up votes.
I do think if we win big the next two weeks then we are ranked going into USA but we just need to beat ULL. Lose this game and none of this matters. It does make for interesting thoughts heading to GSU ranked again.

Re: UCF
Despite having only one loss, it’ll be very hard for Cincinnati to overcome getting beat 42-0. I get that it was Ohio State, but being shutout in college football is a bad look. Being destroyed by 42 by anyone is terrible.

Re: UCF
It would be good for UCF to win the AAC now. You're only eligible for the NY6 if you win your conference so in the end, it's the five G5 conference winners against each other for the Cotton Bowl spot.
And yes, App needs to be 13-0, go 1-0 every week, etc.

Re: UCF
For UCF to even win their division, they’d need Temple and Cincy to lose at least once each. At that point I’d just as soon one of those teams win the division and league; a 2-loss UCF might still get some consideration, more so I think than a 2-loss Temple or Cincinnati.

Re: UCF
Talk of the votes are moot if we don’t win the conference. That is the only criteria that is absolute to get a NY6 bid. It matters nil what everyone else does if we don’t win the conference.

Re: UCF
Glad to see UCF lose 2 so far this year since they are in our recruiting footprint and have received so much hype the last couple of years.

Re: UCF
I saw that too but I’m doubtful. They got zero votes in either poll last week. Do they really get that big a bump for a home win over a team that already lost to Pitt? Maybe they pass us in the coaches poll, but I doubt they pass us in AP.
