Evan Conley
Watched the Music City bowl this afternoon. Evan Conley did not see the field and his playing time significantly decreased as the season progressed. The starter Malik Cunningham looked good and is only a redshirt soph. He also had a good 2018 stat wise. It appears that Conley was just a fill in place holder this year. Doubt if he will ever start for U of L again if he even plays at all. Did he expect this and will he transfer? Maybe back to us and challenge DBG for the job after sitting out a season next year? Disclaimer: I did not watch the game because of SS. I am from Kentucky and have a STRONG dislike for the baby birds.

Re: Evan Conley
I think he can be a solid player but Satt was probably not sure Cunningham would pan out and wanted one of his guys there. You never know what will happen.
He was never one of ours. It is not like he signed with us, showed up, and then transferred. If he wants to join us though I would gladly take the depth. However, if he transfers it would be somewhere he is going to start for sure. I don't see him ever coming to App. lol

Re: Evan Conley
Was talking about Cunningham who now goes by Micael. He is now a rising junior. Conley now a rising sophomore.
Re: Evan Conley
Conley made it very clear that App State was his dream school, he attended a lot the camps, was basically at just about at every visit he could go too. Then once Satt went to UL he basically showed up at his high school and told him and his parents he would have the opportunity to play like everyone else. Now he had a very god game against Wake Forest with basically throwing over their coverage and into the boundaries. Fast forward to now, UL signed Tee Webb, and now they have Cunningham and Webb and another player who I believe will be healthy next year. Conley will be in the mix but once Web, gets the system Conley will move the 3rd position barring injuries by mid season of next year this is my opinion only. I doubt he ever sees the field again. Sad part about this is he could have possibly started at App State. Time will tell...I thought it was a mistake for him to jump to UL, but maybe hes not worried about playing time. Stats were not bad for freshman, but 3 interceptions vs 4 TD's is what is glaring.

I see that he burned his redshirt .He was "all in" with Scott.I get it.There are a lot of places he would be the man .Wish him the best.

Re: Evan Conley
I believe few that have flipped from App have gone on to have consistent starting or meaningful playing time elsewhere.

I don’t really want Louisville’s third string QB. If that’s what’s he’s going to be.

Re: Evan Conley
Just from the few that flipped in last years class: DJ Williams was Auburns second leading rusher with 79 carries and 387 yards. Zion Nelson started every game at Miami this year (albeit the OL was horrendous) . The guys we are able to attract now are legit P5 talents, while it would be nice if those two and Conley had made it up the Mountain we have created a culture that develops talent and maximizes it in our system. I still think the best is yet to come for the Black and Gold but we have had an amazing leap in talent over the last three years.

Re: Evan Conley
DJ Williams is going to be a beast. Helps to play in a Malzahn offense but it sure would've been fun to see what Riley could do with a talent like him.NavyApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 9:58 amJust from the few that flipped in last years class: DJ Williams was Auburns second leading rusher with 79 carries and 387 yards. Re: Evan Conley
Jahlil Taylor played well as a RS freshman at Carolina this year and has a good shot to be their starting NT next year.NavyApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 9:58 amJust from the few that flipped in last years class: DJ Williams was Auburns second leading rusher with 79 carries and 387 yards. I haven’t followed guys who flip away from App closely, but I imagine there are others who have done well.

Re: Evan Conley
We do need more OL for sure, but we only have two scholarship QBs who will be on the roster in ‘21, neither of whom has played a college snap yet.
As for Conley (this part isn’t in response to you), if he does ever decide to transfer, I expect he’ll have good options based on how he played this year.

Re: Evan Conley
I totally get you and my response was more tongue in cheek. We just tend to go nuts over quarterbacks as if there isn't another important position on the field.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 10:44 amWe do need more OL for sure, but we only have two scholarship QBs who will be on the roster in ‘21, neither of whom has played a college snap yet.

Re: Evan Conley
Understand your point. But we will have three scholarship QBs on the roster in 2021 as we will recruit at least one next year. But either way, none of them will have much, if any college snaps. No need to bring in a guy, even if that is possible, that has a couple of games under his belt. Now if you get a grad transfer with experience to help guide the youngins along, maybe that’s a route to go.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 10:44 amWe do need more OL for sure, but we only have two scholarship QBs who will be on the roster in ‘21, neither of whom has played a college snap yet.

Re: Evan Conley
There's nothing "sad" about Conley's situation. He had all the information in front of him when he made his decision. He played more at UL than he would have at App this year and there is zero guarantee that he would ever being the full time starter at either school. It's all part of the game. I know some want to hold it against Satterfield for taking him, but all he did was make and offer to a kid who accepted it. I know some want to paint that as an ethics problem but it's just not.
I was proud to see Satterfield doing well this year. Whether folks want to admit it or not, he continues to represent App, even in his new role. App got talked about quite a bit during the game. They even made a comment that Cunningham had been watching tape of Zac Thomas to learn from his performance.
Congrats to Coach Satterfield.

Re: Evan Conley
The couple of games I saw Conley play he looked really good for a true freshman. Cunningham runs a great deal and I believe that is why he missed a couple of the games. Coach Satterfield has some real talent on that team -
