Re: Minimum sports requirement waiver news
I’m glad, once a sport is dropped it is very difficult to start it back. A suggestion I saw said to just put in ‘in time out’ for awhile.

But they will waive attendance and seating requirements for ODU and UNCC?

Re: Minimum sports requirement waiver news
Attendance requirements have been ignored for a long time with regard to the MAC.
I am actually glad they didn't approve this particular waiver. I think this waiver would have been a huge accelerant to the already existing trend of eliminating Olympic sports and very few of the "furloughed" programs would actually return (unless needed to meet the minimum requirement). As the article said, programs will still be discontinued but at least now there is a floor.
The other options being discussed which allow scheduling flexibility seem more reasonable. That said, if football is significantly impacted this fall, I wouldn't be surprised if this issue gets re-visited. Unfortunately, that is looking more and more likely.
