Ah - Drink finds he is not in Kansas (or Boone) anymore
Not sure Mizzou holds much weight in the SEC
Loser: Missouri
Considering that Missouri was scheduled to play Arkansas and Mississippi State as its two cross-division opponents, the Tigers should have known their slate was going to increase in difficulty with Friday's announcement. But Missouri and its first-year head coach Elijah Drinkwitz could not have caught a tougher draw. The Tigers added Alabama and LSU to their slate. That means Missouri will play three opponents (Florida, Alabama and LSU) that have accounted for nine of the last 14 national championships.

Interesting that many on here felt that Coach Drinkwitz left us for a lot more money in order to form a better life for his family.

I’ll be pulling for Mizzou this year. The guy can coach. Just hope he has the horses to compete with that kind of schedule.

I don't know how "good" of a coach he actually is. He is in the polar opposite of a position than he had last year with us. I think in 5 years and look back and have a clearer picture of what he is as a coach. I will say his coach/used car salesman vernacular is unmatched.

I do wonder if he'll change the name of the Arkansas rivalry game from the Battle Line Rivalry to the Love Line Rivalry.

Re: Ah - Drink finds he is not in Kansas (or Boone) anymore
I don't think anyone is butt hurt or said he is a bad coach. We all think he is a good coach. He knows football and definitely knows how to say the right things and comes off as a politician in how he talks sometimes. We just don't know on recruiting or if he can build or rebuild a roster yet because he has not had the chance. It took Satt some time as well. That is fair to say.
His first two situations are polar opposites. He took over an App team with high expectations and a schedule we expected to win 12-13 games with. We had hopes of undefeated. Missouri has more talent than their record but not enough horses to expect he can challenge in the SEC East. He will need to build up that roster.
We don't know exactly how well he recruits yet because he has not had enough time. All of that is fair to say.
I wish him well but his results won't effect me. As long as we are winning it really does not matter to me very much what other schools are doing, unless it can benefit us. I promise you Missouri and Drink aren't going to be too worried about what we do. They care about Missouri and they should. It is okay.

He got a great contract and honestly because he has so much money it really does not matter if he wins or not. If he is smart with his money, which I figure he will be, he is set for life. He will make enough here that he could literally fail and be fired in 4 years but not have to work another day in his life. All you have to do as a coach is get one deal like this and then you can finish your career as a coordinator or position coach and never feel the stress of money again in your life.

Mizzou was what, 6-6 last year? They’re not actually terrible. Sure he’ll take a few beatings, but there should be enough winnable games in there too. That was always going to be a rebuild.

Re: Ah - Drink finds he is not in Kansas (or Boone) anymore
They definitely had more talent than their win total. Now, they lost just about all of their top players so it is for sure a rebuild. Looking at their schedule I would say they have 5 losses this year and I'm thinking those are Alabama, Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Tennessee. They should beat Kentucky, SC, Vandy, Miss St, and Arkansas.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 1:00 pmMizzou was what, 6-6 last year? They’re not actually terrible. I’d rate Tennessee, UK and Miss St as more like toss-ups. Maybe SC too.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 1:10 pmThey definitely had more talent than their win total. Re: Ah - Drink finds he is not in Kansas (or Boone) anymore
Missouri will never be top of even the SEC East. UGA, Florida, possibly Kentucky, and even Tennessee once they get their shit together will always dominate. Drink's future will depend on the expectation set forth by their A.D. If the A.D. is content with just making a bowl game, then Drink should be able to get 6 plus wins a year. If the A.D. wants Drink to take them to the SEC Championship, that likely won't happen and his seat might get hot.
He wasn't with App State long enough to be "butt hurt". He won some very important games albeit with Satt players. He also did a complete shit job against Georgia Southern. I like many have just moved on, and look forward to the future.
I will say though, had he been a fan and silent promoter of Coke products I might miss him a bit more.

Re: Ah - Drink finds he is not in Kansas (or Boone) anymore
SC is awful and poorly coached. I feel like he should beat them for sure. I see what you mean with UK and MSU but I gave them those two really be positive because if he is worth the money they paid him then he should be able to pull those out.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 1:28 pmI’d rate Tennessee, UK and Miss St as more like toss-ups.
