CC hits 9 in the AP, need Cincy to lose
Really going to be pulling for Tulsa against Cincy. If CC can win the title game and jump Cincy that could drop them right in the NY 6. While this has been a crazy year with an * on it, just getting them to that spot will help pave the way for us if we can get back on course in the next 3 seasons. We need to strike while the sunbelt is fresh on peoples minds, and we need CC to win and Cincy to lose.
We can debate all we want to about how this should have been us this year, but it wasn't. So now it just is what it is. Now we need to cheer for conference reputation gains, and that means cheering for CC to win.

I was sincerely pulling hard for them until the whiny comments by CCU and Chadwell. I want Louisiana and Cincy to win. CCU will still finish ranked, which is good for the league, and they will be taken down a peg for acting high and mighty.appdaze wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 2:43 pmReally going to be pulling for Tulsa against Cincy. You guys are crazy we should all be hoping for Coastal to get in the NY6.
The added payout for the conference is like an extra $300k per sunbelt team if I recall. Especially significant in this COVID year.

Cincy must lose for the SBC to get the NY6 game. Either CCU or ULL beat out Tulsa for the game, so doesn't really matter who wins the SBC.

After making the title game for the third year in a row, I'm pulling for UL. If Coastal wins I won't be upset but I'd just like to see UL win the title.

Sorry, I'm pulling for the Cajuns in the championship. Chadwell's antics over having to play Troy are shameful, but I guess he doesn't care. Total joke.

In a fluky year, fluky things happen. CC is really good, but the stars have aligned for them this season. Who knows how far they go?

If Cincy gets the G5 auto selection for the NY6 couldn't CCU still get a NY6 invite if the committee puts them in the top 12? They would of course have to beat UL again to get into and stay in the top 12.

Personally, I would be happiest if ULL shuts them out and scores 50.
Their fan base and team is wayyyyy too cocky and whiny for catching lightning in a bottle for the first time ever.
Geaux Cajuns.

Wow some of the negative comments are ridiculous. If we were undefeated and 9th some of our fanbase would be insufferable. We already have some reputation as jerky to begin with. Let them enjoy the ride. Who cares what the coach said about the Troy game. As far as “lightning in a bottle “ goes there are teams every year who get some luck. When is the last time Indiana was top anything?

You must have missed where coastal publicly lobbied for their game with Troy to be canceled because it was meaningless.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 6:04 pmWow some of the negative comments are ridiculous. It’s a conference game. You play all your conference games.

I saw it. We had a long thread discussing it. I’m just tired of being critical about small stuff. Life is tough right now.yosef69 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 6:14 pmYou must have missed where coastal publicly lobbied for their game with Troy to be canceled because it was meaningless.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 6:04 pmWow some of the negative comments are ridiculous. Re: CC hits 9 in the AP, need Cincy to lose
I am pulling for ULL all the way, honestly if they win I think they have the best G5 resume because they will have beat 2 top 10 teams and avenged their only loss. If ULL wins and Cincy loses, I think ULL goes to NY6 bowl and I would much rather that happen after hearing UCC's crying coach trying to get out of playing a game. It was just pathetic.

Re: CC hits 9 in the AP, need Cincy to lose
Theoretically, yes, but I think it would take more than being in the top 12 given all the tie-ins; most of the NY6 are locked in with specific P5 conferences, whether it's the champ or the next-best available.
Plus, in practice, the CFP is a for-profit entity who wants the biggest ratings possible, and the next time time they do any G5 a favor in their rankings will be the first.

Re: CC hits 9 in the AP, need Cincy to lose
Some people noted on here the payout for NY6 bowls. Regardless of ccu complaining, the fact is we are tens of millions of dollars in the hole in our athletic budget. Who knows how many millions? Our entire athletic staff is on rotating furloughs and we have dropped sports programs forever. We desperately need the money from a NY6 bowl. I would like to think if Tulsa beats Cincy (do they hate being called Cincy??) Sunbelt is in a good position for NY6. But I don’t see UL moving in front of Cincy even though they would deserve it.

Re: CC hits 9 in the AP, need Cincy to lose
My prediction is the CFP and the "Powers that be" intentionally put Coastal up high enough to make the NY6. This way they can pair Cincinnati and Coastal Carolina in a game and protect the embarrassment of having one of the "Golden Ticket teams" punched in the mouth by a g5 team. (Especially the AAC) They are scared to have any proof that more teams belong in the CFP or the P5. Protecting the money.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 7:20 pmTheoretically, yes, but I think it would take more than being in the top 12 given all the tie-ins; most of the NY6 are locked in with specific P5 conferences, whether it's the champ or the next-best available.
