Re: Satt’s 2020
He will need 3 years or so to completely turn it around. They won several games last year giving up over 30 points. I remember them giving up like 50+ to Wake Forest last season.

Re: Satt’s 2020
I’ve noticed that different G5’s we have played sometimes have “huge” offensive linemen. Basically they are just big, slow fat guys. Same for some defensive linemen. They are not really effective against speedy guys. Satt basically has those lines right now.

Re: Satt’s 2020
This is what you see when the cupboard was left relatively empty. Last year they probably won some games by catching some people by surprise or just adrenaline from the excitement generated by new staff. Now they are down to fundamental rebuilding from ground up. It will take some time so hope they give him some runway.
Drink is going to encounter the same at Missouri.

Re: Satt’s 2020
A friend of mine pointed out to me that the Louisville coaches were wearing:
“Today I Give My All for The Ville” T-shirts with a Kentucky background.
Is this something Satterfield has been doing there since he left? Not sure how I feel about that one.

Re: Satt’s 2020
The absolute key thing that Coach Satterfield HAD TO DO was change the total environment and he did that last year and the Ws were the icing on the cake - It is going to take him a couple of years to get his type of players - especially on Defense - He will do it!

Re: Satt’s 2020
Happens a lot when a school gets a new coach. I remember when Shawn Elliott went to South Carolina and they were excited they poached him. By year 3 I remember hearing those same fans disappointed in lack of development and ready to see him go.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2020 8:33 amThis is what you see when the cupboard was left relatively empty. It took some time for them to build the App defense into an elite one and should take them 3 years or so before that defense will be as well. On offense they have some skill talent like Micale Cunningham, Dez Fitzpatrick, Tutu Atwell, and Hassan Hall but lacking a good OL. On defense a couple guys like Dorian Etheridge and Chandler Jones but they just don't have the talent on their DL, or enough depth. I would imagine 2022 is the year to see what they should be able to do there.
With how weird this cycle has been I don't think any new staff or a staff who just arrived a year ago can be blamed too much if their team did not develop like they hoped for as well in 2020.

Time is not something most P5s allow these days. Build it in 3 years or be on the hot seat.

Re: Satt’s 2020
Defense was possibly the worst defense in FBS when he got there. Will take Brown aprobaly 2 more years to get the quick guys for his scheme but they need to show some improvement year to year. Offensively his offensive line and line depth were horrible when he arrived. Seems like i saw him say Petrino had like 14 wide recievers but only 9 offensive lineman on the team. Petrino basically only recruited skill positions his last few years. Ive watched them quite a bit this year and the qb Cunningham is constanty overthrowing receivers running wide open down the field. He got the culture turned around quickly which is a big plus but I think he will get 2 more years to see if his results measure up to what Louisville was looking for.

Re: Satt’s 2020
Agreed, but did have a great first season with a bowl win and ACC Coach of Year honors. That defense is definitely going to have to improve by leaps and bounds though.

Re: Satt’s 2020
If Louisville struggles all year the diehards will ask why they hired some coach from that little N.C. mountain school.
Side note did anyone see the Drink locker room speech on Game Day this morning? His office must be absolutely full of inspiration books. He has more cliches than can be counted.
