Re: FCS In The Spring - Who Are You Rooting For?
Wow! So the added benefit of winning the championship is essentially a 3.5 month break to recover and then do it all over again! I hope this doesn't led to a rash of injuries next fall, but that is a lot of potential hits for a body to take in a calendar year.
I wonder what the possibility is for the FCS to move to the spring all together moving forward? Keep one or two pay games in the fall as a pseudo spring game, then the full season in the spring. They could possibly get more national tv games as we are starved for football in the spring, so people would definitely watch. Just a thought, i knkw it won't happen.

Kudos to the teams that elected not to play spring football as the rational to not play remains the same as it did in the fall. These players based upon age will not have received the vaccine by the start of the season.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:53 pmHere's the current list of opt outs: 29 and counting per herosports.comAppStFan1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:12 pmThey indeed did. I'm pulling for Campbell. I like their style of play. Also, may go check out a Davidson game. I have a work colleague who's son is a Senior LB.
No XFL this year, so why not watch FCS?

I have to go with UNC. Not the Tarholes but Northern Colorado. Closest FCS team to me here in Denver. Ed Mcaffrey is the head coach there now. I have a friend coaching Dline on his staff. Most famous football alum: Vincent Jackson

They opted out of Big Sky confernce games. They are working on a more region schedule. My guess, a bunch of D2 games as there are not many close FCS school.

Same here! Within the SoCon, I'd actually like to see WCU doing well. Once upon a time, that was a good rivalry, and they are a sister school in the UNC system....not to mention the Speir connection. One of these days, they'll finally put things together.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 8:54 pmAlways root for the SoCon. Yes that includes Furman Western and Wofford. Re: FCS In The Spring - Who Are You Rooting For?
I think it is very smart not to play. If I'm NDSU and the other powers I back out as well. Go through spring ball and save your resources for the fall. You also don't want major injuries in the next two months that hurt your chance in an normal year this fall.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:53 pmHere's the current list of opt outs: 29 and counting per herosports.comAppStFan1 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:12 pmThey indeed did. Re: FCS In The Spring - Who Are You Rooting For?
I doubt I will watch a single fcs game this spring, let alone pull for anyone. I haven't watched a complete one since we moved up. Just doesn't do it for me anymore which kind of surprised me at first because I was sure that I would continue to follow fcs after we moved up.

I'll be pulling for The Citadel. Always a tough hard-nosed bunch. Glad to see them strapping up! Go Dogs.

Re: FCS In The Spring - Who Are You Rooting For?
I completely forgot there was going to be spring football. Great news, it's almost impossible for me to find something to watch on tv already.
I assume ESPN will be airing a lot of games? I'll be watching. Don't know who I'll be pulling for.

Re: FCS In The Spring - Who Are You Rooting For?
I'm down here in Clemson country where they and USC are "obliged" (not obligated) to play an in-state FCS each year. I've suggested on our show that Clemson and SC move their FCS games to their spring game. Pay them a big chunk of money, sell tickets concessions, merch, etc etc...maybe even host it at a neutral site or on the campus of the FCS school.
It'd help Clemson and SC (and by extension all FBS programs) get a blow-out game off their schedule and open up an additional OOC scheduling opportunity.

The Citadel has the two Carley brothers playing - use to play high school ball here. One just transferred over from USC. Linemen. Keep an eye on them. Be interesting to see how they do.

Tough to say. If the weather's bad, watching FCS ball might be a decent excuse engage in a bit of day drinking.
But If the weather's good I'll prolly be outside and not watching any TV...but maybe still day drinking. As I mentioned, it's tough to say.

Re: FCS In The Spring - Who Are You Rooting For?
Brother do you know how many people say that about our fans? I try not to hold a standard to other school’s I wouldn’t hold to ours. All schools have bad fans. But compared to some fanbases, none of those schools make me not want success for their teams. I try to stay focused on the schools I root against and not devolve into hating every school that ever gave App a tough game.AppinATL wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 7:36 amNone of Western an Furman fans were off-putting?!?
