FCS In The Spring - Who Are You Rooting For?

Unread post by APPdiesel » Thu Jan 21, 2021 6:12 pm

We say on our show that you're allowed to have an FBS and an FCS team that you root for....so who are we rooting for?

Obviously the answer isn't Furman, Wofford, Elon, JMU, or NDSU...so who - and why?

My son went to Kitty Kat U. He and I plan to attend some of Western's home games.

I follow UMaine since I spent some time up in Bangor. Orono, about 15 miles north of Bangor, reminds me a lot of Boone with the small college town vibes. The football program is good too- in 2018 the Black Bears made it to the FCS semis and lost to Eastern Washington (who lost to NDSU). Young coaches and a blue collar culture, whats not to like?

Are they really going to do this? Do they play again in the fall?

I'm rooting for Coach Speir, good guy, former APP and from my hometown. I graduated high school with his older brother.

I'm glad they are doing it. The kids put the work in, they should get a season.

I'm pulling for Campbell. I like their style of play. Also, may go check out a Davidson game. I have a work colleague who's son is a Senior LB.

No XFL this year, so why not watch FCS?

I think Campbell opted out due to issues with playing a Spring season and turning right around and playing again in the Fall.

Always root for the SoCon. Yes that includes Furman Western and Wofford. We had healthy rivalries and none of their fanbases are off putting. Plus they are regional. I’d rather see wofford or another so con team do well vs some school in Utah I’ve never heard of.

If there is a silver lining to this covid-effed year, it’s that football doesn’t end with the College NC and the Super Bowl! I will watch FCS and HS football (my son plays) and be thankful for 8 full months of it! I too, as always (since we left), will pull for SOCON teams, but I also want to see Deion have success in Jacksonville.

Ditto. I don't mean that in a mean way because I know none of them pull for us or care either. We are no longer in their league or division so FCS just is not relevant for us. I will check to see how Elon looks, if on TV, because we play them but that is it.

They indeed did. It is smart too because those teams are going to turn around and play in the fall. I think Minter was smart to do that. His players will be fresher for sure.

Agreed here. Many teams are opting out and if a player has a serious injury then he will lose his fall season as well.
