I noticed our former commit Zeb Noland (who decommitted from us and went to Iowa State) is starting for North Dakota State, who lost today to Southern Illinois.

I’m seeing lots of attrition in the SoCon. Almost every team is 1-1. Except for Western, they are 0-2 as they should be.

Stumbled on a few minutes of both of wcu’s games. They are abysmal.

They're looking pretty rough, no doubt. I'm afraid the end of the line may be fast approaching for Coach Speir in Cullowhee. I could definitely seem him "landing on his feet" back in Boone in some capacity, especially with SC at the helm. Wouldn't have a problem with that at all if it happened, though it'd mean the end of his HC career, most likely.

They're looking pretty rough, no doubt. I'm afraid the end of the line may be fast approaching for Coach Spier in Cullowhee. Which begs the question, can anybody turn the kitty's program around? I thought Spier would, but now I just don't think it's humanly possible.

With roughly a .333 winning % in nearly a decade as an FCS coach, it seems likely his HC career is nearing its end regardless of his next stop.

Could nick Saban make WCU successful? I’m really not sure

I was watching Mercer and Citadel yesterday. A very familiar voice was calling that game. How I wish I could Hear it in Boone again.

I heard him call an ETSU game back in 2019. He must be branching out.

This would make a great experiment. Make Saban wear Groucho Marx glasses à la Woody Allen's Virgil Starkwell's parents in Take the Money and Run so no one would know who he was. We could then see if his coaching talent alone could get them winning. I am thinking they would still lose at football.

The right coach can make WCU successful. The right coach made Kansas State successful when they were the worst team in all FBS/I-A, the right coach turned around Rutgers, the right coach turned around Vanderbilt for a while and the right coach (Chadwell) turned around Charleston Southern when they were the worst scholarship team in all FCS.

Speir had WCU close on a couple occasions, but their penchant for scheduling 2-3 FBS paydays a season cost them a playoff bid even when they had a winning SoCon record.

Good point on the money games playing a part in his overall winning percentage, but I will take a wait and see on the right coach transforming that program. Even if they could find the right coach would they be able to afford the right coach (and staff) without playing 2-3 money games a season? I guess anything is possible, but that's a "show me" proposition.
