Clemson & FSU to SEC???
New rumors floating around that Clemson and FSU have reached out to the SEC about joining. Seems ridiculous to me, but we could be seeing the start of the P5 realignment fiasco. I just hope we get a shot at the ACC if they leave!

I don't know much about what will happen but I do know that there is no way App State is getting a shot at the ACC. We just don't bring anything to the table in terms of expanding the economic footprint of the conference.

This is getting crazy. But not crazy enough for any SBC or CUSA team to get a call from a current P5 conference.

If this realignment keeps going I worry about what might happen to our future $ games. Don't we have Texas A&M and Clemson on future schedules?

Re: Clemson & FSU to SEC???
It sucks for scheduling purposes but at least there would be buyout money. We're in the same boat with the series we recently scheduled with Florida. Our 2030 and 2033 games should be safe, but our 2024 game was to fill their last opening. They won't need that anymore if OU and UT make the jump before 2025 and the SEC decides to go from 8 conference games to 9.

Re: Clemson & FSU to SEC???
Probably won't end up in the ACC if this happens but I could see a realistic scenario that lands us in a different or new conference if the AAC gets poached by the remaining big 12 schools or the Sunbelt and CUSA somehow blend. I'm sure our athletic director is monitoring everything and working hard to keep us in the best possible position. Interesting times!

Re: Clemson & FSU to SEC???
It was reported right after the Texas/Oklahoma story broke that the SEC was in serious talks with Clemson. FSU, Michigan and Ohio State.

Which only adds fire to the rumor mill. This just went from tin-foil hat talk to the ink is all but dried on the paperwork.

Said this several days ago in another thread....

Adds Texas and Oklahoma to SEC then Clemson and Florida State are added.
Creates an 18 team super conference divided into two divisions. Each team plays 8 Division conference games, 1 cross division game and 3 OOC games.
Big Ten “Super Conference B”
Super Conference B does the same…by adding 4 teams. Adds USC and Oregon then Notre Dame and one more maybe Kansas or Colorado.
Each Super Conference Team Plays 8 division conference games, 1 cross division game within conference, and 3 OOC games.
Of the 3 OOC games Each team would play 1 game between the super two conferences.
The AD from each Super Conference team would be able to schedule the remaining 2 OOC games with any other FBS team outside the two super conferences “PAC 12: Big 12, ACC or G5 conference”.

A good time to sue these schools for racketeering and/or anti-trust.
Class action even. If it happens.

Re: Clemson & FSU to SEC???
I assume that but I just don't see it. I seriously don't see this move being made by Clemson as I am pretty sure they consider themselves more academically aligned with the ACC.

Re: Clemson & FSU to SEC???
My opinion-Clemson sees the writing on the wall that the SEC is preparing to break away from the NCAA and they want/need to be part of that.
Otherwise there’s the fact that currently, the SEC TV payout is ~$25mil more per team than the ACC.
Give 'em hell!
Re: Clemson & FSU to SEC???
Maybe so, but I remember Clemson considered leaving the ACC in 1971 when SC left due to the 800 rule (SAT score) the conference had in place. This time it would be about the big dollars and the potential long term competitive advantage that a super sized SEC could provide the school. Would they go? I have no idea.
