The U

I bought the preseason hype of how good Miami was going to be this season. Sheesh. I know they must go as QB King goes. The Tide started rolling him and every team after has targeted him til he can’t go. Wake squashed UVA last week and now UVA is working on Miami halfway through that game. If the transitive property actually was applicable to football…..

There’s actually no such thing, but so much for that “good loss”… And King wasn’t “all that” even in our game

Miami chance to win , ball off upright and they lose 30-28.

They had it won. But doinked the FG off the left upright from 31 yds away as time expires to lose by 2.

Aren’t all of their “student athletes “ getting a weekly allowance anyway? Guess the ROI isn’t quite what was expected.

Somehow that loss hurt more than it should have for what was considered a “good loss”. Now I know why

Diaz may be gone after this year if they are .500 or one game over. The hype for the U has been going on for over a decade. In addition, their fan support, for a supposed football school" is terrible for a P5 school. Unless they are on track for a Natty, the stadium rarely fills to capacity.

I’m not sure Diaz makes it through the season unless he wins the next couple. ADs have been quick on the trigger this season already…

I'm with you on this. I bought into it, and I still think that athletically Miami is the most talented team we will face, but they sure aren't showing in on the field. The bad part is that, the team we played was probably playing harder than they are now. They have lost or are losing steam. I really wonder what is going on behind the scenes down there. You'd think their homer coach would have a positive on culture and attitudes. Is he losing them? Is King dinged up and not performing? I don't follow closely enough to know what's causing their issues, but it's making our L look worse by the week.
Just keep on winning. It will still be a better "L" than the one to GS in 2019 if we take care of remaining business.

King is hurt - didn't even dress last night and didn't last week either (didn't need to) - the thing that made a difference with us is that their secondary will all be in the NFL and played really well - Offensively King was the difference maker against us - he broke loose for a couple of important runs -
Everyone's favorite, Herbie, really got after the U administration last week and he is correct - they play in a stadium 45 mins from their campus - students can't walk across the street like in Boone - He feels they don't want to put the money into making football better -
I'm not sure about the future of Diaz - He is a local and he cares and I'm not sure who with head coaching experience would have interest in the situation as it now stands - supposedly Diaz has had good recruiting classes -

It really doesn't matter who is injured when the nation/polls/people just look at W v L. Losing to them will probably keep us out of the top 20. If we clean up our schedule I think we get about 21-22.

According to the talking heads on sports talk radio, Miami is the only job Cristobal would leave Oregon for.

If true the U needs to do this like yesterday! Diaz is a great recruiter and hype man; solid DC but a HC he is not. It's all well and good he is from Miami but he is not part of the U.

You are right - I do remember hearing them say that -

Clearly Miami is just not that good of a football team and we were not able to beat them so I am not sure exactly where that leaves us in the college football landscape. I know for sure that had one of our rivals lost to Miami, we would all be chiming in about how Miami is awful so the Rival must not be any good either. While I know the transitive property does not apply to football, I also know that really good teams also don't usually lose to bad teams. Hopefully we limit our mistakes going forward and show the rest of the country the type of team that we all know we have.

If losing to GS in 2019 didn't keep us out, then losing to Miami early in the season certainly shouldn't keep us out. We do need to take care of business though. We have no margin for error left.

I think we could break into the teens if we finish 11-1. I think we'll break into the top 25 just as soon as we beat Coastal if we make it through GaSt. and Louisiana. From there, if we win and others lose we'll just keep creeping up until our ceiling at #18 or so, which seems about right.
Anybody who watched the Miami game (agree with you the pollsters don't care, they just look at W v L) knows we should have won that game. It was a bad loss and we just need to accept it for what it was at this point.

There's still a lot of football left to be played. Miami could actually end up winning the Coastal Division and maybe even the ACC championship since Clemson is struggling. There's not an apparent dominant team in the ACC this year...at least not yet.

I quit buying Miami years ago. Not a more fool's gold team in all of college football than the U...they've been declared to be "back" more times than I can count since their last good years way back with Coker. More hyped about being "back" than Texas, USC, and FSU combined
