Napier on the move…?

Unread post by JPatH3292 » Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:09 am

Just speculation at this point. Similar to Drink downplaying everything until after the championship game. If true, what a send off it would be to hand him yet another championship L. Bonus points for being at their home.

Also just saw this in the media:
"The LSU football coaching search is down to three candidates, and the next coach could be named by "the end of this week" or early next week, two sources with knowledge of the search said Monday morning.

The candidates are Baylor head coach Dave Aranda, Louisiana-Lafayette head coach Billy Napier and Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell."

It feels like this is the season that Napier leaves. Too many high profile jobs out there.

The Sun Belt needs a strong Louisiana. Otherwise the west is just plain garbage.
Give 'em hell!

I haven't kept up closely, but thought I saw where LSU offered Lincoln Riley about $12M?

Just read a article some insider guy in FLA on a radio program said today it's almost a done deal and would be announced by Sunday or Monday.

I think that would be a mistake by UF. I think Napier has done a good job of emulating Bama's program but the difference is that Saban is a great game day coach and I really don't think Napier is. I really think the SEC would eat him alive.

Announced by Sunday or Monday before the championship? If so that’s brutal for the team. What a huge distraction. At least our two guys acted like they were staying until the day after.

Hope he gets the gig. Seems like he knows what he’s doing down there. I don’t begrudge Satt or Drink. Doesn’t alter my world one bit. Successful programs roll right on.

They can't win. The rumor is out there and they will be asked. If they "act like they're staying" and then don't, they get skewered for being disingenuous. If they dodge, it's as bad as announcing.
