Why would we drop A&M?

JMU and the Sun Belt are doing a presser tomorrow announcing they're joining the Sun Belt this summer in all sports. They won't be eligible for the Sun Belt football title or bowl game, but they'll count as an FBS team and as a bowl opponent.

They certainly could, but the poster said, “we”.

JMU dropped the Weber State game to host MTSU for $700,000. MTSU became available because Missouri dropped a visit to Murfreesboro. To make up for MTSU losing a 6th home game, JMU sweetened the pot to make this happen.

So, a team that left the Sun Belt a couple years ago to, in large part, get away from FCS call-ups will play AT a FCS call-up in its first game as a FBS member of the Sun Belt Conference.

As Happ mentioned MTSU is getting $700,000 from JMU to play there and $800,000 from Missou for Missou NOT to play in Murfreesboro. That is a cool $1.5 million.

Since we called Furman's purple color "Furple" should we call JMU's "jurple" or (referencing their Dukes mascot) "durple"?

Furple for JMU sounds good to me...

I’m surprised MTSU needs any money with that awesome C-USA TV deal.

Didn’t Whithers leave JMU for Texas State?
