(WVLT-TV) ETSU is looking for a football coach to lead their soon to be resurrected football program. Our sister station in Johnson City has learned that Knoxville native Carl Torbush was on campus at ETSU on Monday to speak with school officials.

Torbush attended Austin-East high school and Carson-Newman college. His coaching career dates all the way back to 1975. In the late 90's he served as head coach at North Carolina. He is now the front runner for the head coaching position. The school expects to name a coach no later than June 15th.

ETSU has called a presser for Tuesday at 2 pm. That was quick.

EDIT: Just read the ETSU boards. It's probably not to name a coach and the SoCon will be there. This could actually affect us for at least a year.

Chuck, Torbush as I said last week. Remember , I'm in the land of orange now. This is far enough into the area. I still say I am from NC when asked. I definitely don't say Johnson County because everyone thinks Johnson City, which is not in Johnson County.

Good for ETSU. Does anyone know what their plans are for football? It would be great to see them eventually join us in the FBS ranks. You could start envisioning an eastern division of Sunbelt, or perhaps a brand new conference that would include ETSU, ASU, Marshall, JMU, GA State, GA Southern and others located within reasonable proximity of one another.

ETSU wasn't very good as I recall.
