If they all go, then takes care of the grant of rights issues.

Do we really think the basketball blue bloods will allow that to happen?

It seems like more speculation than prediction. Oregon/Washington makes more sense than Georgia Tech/Miami. Additionally, while I know times they are a changin’, I don’t think people outside of the ACC fully understand the loyalty between the original 8 ACC members.

Really only original 5 as USC left decades ago then UM left. UVa joined a year or so anfter ACC formed and GT joined after USC left.

Seriously doubt it happens, but money talks. That BIG10 TV money is vastly different than the ACC’s money. Loyalty goes a long way, but $$$$ and the fear of falling behind the BIG10 and SEC is real.

GO APPS!!

I am of the opinion that the money piece is overplayed. Yes, more money creates opportunity with more and better resources but is it an equalizer? Are ACC schools at a disadvantage from the majority of Big and SEC schools from a competition standpoint? If money alone made the difference, schools like Rutgers, Maryland, Minnesota South Carolina and Missouri would be able to consistently compete with conference blue bloods.

There are still only "so many" top-notch players

But it was found on the Internet and written with actual words, so it must be true.

At one time, I would've been convinced ACC basketball programs would've made any conference split nearly impossible.
Then Williams/Krzyzewski retire, Duke/UNC have down seasons and we watch the ascent of other powers in the conference (i.e., Miami and Clemson).

Maybe this factors into a decision to split? Who knows?
Not putting too much stock into this until it's corroborated.

Not saying it couldn't happen, but I would not take it as a done deal based on a report from some radio guy I've never heard of.

I will only believe this when the ink is dry on the contracts.

Is this an example of- "if it's on the internet it's true"? Guess someone can just write an article and people buy it. I agree with the talent slant. No matter how it all shakes out you will still see lots of 4-8 and 6-6 football teams. The same mediocre programs will have a flash of success every now and then but generally will stink. If they go to 3-4 super conferences who only basically play each other there aren't but so many wins to go around.

I don't think this is an example of "if it's on the internet it's true." I'm not seeing people really believing it at this point. I think this in an example of, "it's the off season, so let's write something provocative to get some clicks."

...Who knows?
I'm not putting stock in this particular report, but generally speaking I agree with this line of thinking. 5 years ago I would have said "no way", but now I'm a bit more inclined to think "ya maybe" to not this exact breakdown but something similar. The chances are significantly higher than zero anyway. And that is something I would have scoffed at noy long ago.

I do think if the ACC is down to only a few members left alone clinging to the ACC name, Wake, Duke, Syracuse, BC, and Notre Dame (with its insistance on indie football) seem like the most likely sad-sacks to get left behind.

If this goes down...Duke definitely and maybe wake to the big east.
