We got Jimbo fired

"A turning point for the Aggies came early last season when Appalachian State upset them 17-14 in College Station. That didn't end up being a good Mountaineers team, as they finished 6-6 and 3-5 in the Sun Belt."
Jimbo can thank us later, maybe with a donation with that 70+ million dollar buyout. It must be nice to get paid 7 million a year until 2031, not to have to work.

It almost makes me physically sick to see that obscene that amount of largesse spent on a buy out. If I were an alumni of A&M I’d sue the school…how and for what I don’t know but I’d find something

Is A&M really paying for it? ...or sugar daddy booster...

Funny...I started reading the ESPN article and waited patiently for the App State mention.
Mind boggling how A&M can throw away that much money and not blink an eye. Just imagine what App could make happen with a fraction of that sum?

Oh he gets a lump sum.
$19.3 M within 60 days
first $7.2 M in 120 days
Basically $26.6M by March 11 of next year
then $7.2M a year for 7 more years
With what he's already made, he could buy an island somewhere and fade away.
Speculation for the next coach (heard on the street)
Kiffin
Petrino
Smart
DeBoer
Lanning
No chance Smart is leaving GA, They say Kiffin wants Bama, others......

I'll place a bet Drinkawizz tries putting his name in the hat. Probably has already faxed his resume.

I find it hilarious how much A&M thinks of themselves. They haven't won a conference title since 1998 when they were in the Big 12 and have never even made the SEC title game. Yet despite that, they think they should be in the championship conversation and that they are a top 5 job. I can think of 8-10 better jobs off the top of my head. Having obscene amounts of money does not make you a good football school or a top job. The arrogance is too funny. I would take a bet right now that the next coach has about the same record as the past two coaches after 5 seasons or so. it just isn't a football school.

You and I are seeing their results and that cult and we think they are mid tier but the reality is the fans are correct. That job is an elite job. There are not 10 better HC jobs in the country. They have elite support, donor money, facilities, etc. Coaches consider them a top 5-7 job for sure. I would say Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, USC, Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, and Clemson would top the list.
As far as what you said about what the next coach, you could be right. They will attract top names though because of the buyout you saw. Imagine knowing that if you suck for 3-4 years you could get fired and still make 50M+ as your buyout. I think we would all take that scenario. Who cares if you win or not. You are set for life.

You listed 8 teams that I agree with, I would also add LSU, USC (southern cal), Auburn, Florida, Tennessee and probably Florida State. ALL of those teams have won a National Title in the past 25 years (and with the exception of Tennessee, each had a Heisman Trophy winner) and although some are down now, all have facilities, support, finances (not as much as Texas oil but enough) and successful history. The only thing that A&M has over those teams is MONEY. And yes, I agree, coaches will go there for money. BUT, I really think it is the culture of A&M that keeps them mediocre and prevents them from winning. They seem to think that throwing money at football will get it done and it clearly does not. At some point you have to have a culture of winning to come back to and they have never had that despite the great amount of money they have thrown at it. This is a top down (head of the school and board) issue I really believe. Whatever the top is doing, it is leaving the players and everyone else involved in that TEAM believing that they are just inches away from winning when in fact they are worlds away from it. As an outsider, it just seems entitled, much like UNC football. They have never done anything but really believe that they should be nationally relevant. Money doesn't make a winning school and A&M needs to learn that and start from scratch, maybe then they can find a culture and actually learn how to win.
