Cignetti

What do you think are the odds Cignetti will be coaching in Chapel Hill next season? - I know Mack says he is coming back but I'm not sure - I think they will lose to State - I mean, he has a high 1st round draft choice at QB and still lost to Ga Tech and UVA - were lucky to beat APP and Duke, didn't even play the two best teams in FSU and Louisville -- nor VT.

He would be a good choice but I doubt he has the "gravitas" for the lightblue bloods -

I could have seen him go back to WVU but I think Brown has done enough to save his job -
Personally, I was hoping Jimbo Fisher would decide to go back home and lead those Mountaineers - Hell, they wouldn't even need to pay him ;)

Really good points about why Mack would leave but I imagine the decision is his more than anyone elses right now given the reason why he was brought back in the first place and how the baby blue loves him...

Remember though that Gene Chiz is the Associate HC there now and if Mack were to step away smart money would be that he gets the job.

But for conversations sake do you think Cignetti is savvy enough for the Wine & Cheese to have THAT job?

Maybe Cincinatti needs him?

He’s a NE guy…. could easily see him at Syracuse…. Will Chadwell go to Miss St Sumrall from Troy should be going somewhere too.

I don’t see Cignetti in Chapel Hill. But I also don’t see him sticking around at JMU forever.

I can’t stand the Dukes but Cignetti has done a fantastic job following Mike Houston’s success and navigating JMU through the transition to FBS.

But our friends up north would say, “Cig is gonna stay here forever. He said so!” Yes, they all say that…until that dump truck full of fame & life-changing money shows up at their door for the first time.

Oh yeah, and you know all of Cig’s assistants? They’ll never leave JMU either. Keep telling yourselves that.

Welcome to the world of top tier G5 football, kids.

Miss State is a tough job, but Chadwell excels at Juco recruiting and runs an offense that gets a lot out of average players. So maybe he ends up in Starkville. Just don’t know how his gigantic ego would be able to handle being the tiniest fish in that conference…even below Lavender Billy.

Are Pittsburgh and WV NE? I bet Cignetti might punch you in the mouth for suggesting that. :)

Cignetti is 62. If/when he goes to a P5, it's likely his last job. He has to choose wisely. On the flip side, his stock has never been hotter.

He's a bit blunt in public, sometimes calling out players, which apparently matches his private persona. You know where you stand with him. That might not fly as well at an SEC school.

Personally I feel his assistants are more likely to get poached than him.

Also, I feel Chadwell would be perfect for Mississippi State. If he wins 8-9 games a year, he can cheat all he wants and their boosters will cover for him.

Chadwell makes 3.5 million a year, he will be smart on his next move, like wait for Penn State, etc. Must double his salary for him to leave I would imagine.

Cignetti to Syracuse - not sure he fits the SEC although he worked at Alabama under Saban.

Drinkwitz to Texas A & M is going to be the move of the year.

I hate JMU and Cignetti, but I don’t see him leaving this season. Especially if they are denied in the courts for eligibility. Based on what I heard from him at gameday, he is from that area and valued the job

Would be hilarious if he left before they had any actual official success.

Maybe I don’t know what you mean by NE. But neither Pittsburgh nor WV are in the Northeast or New England.

Pittsburgh and WV are considered mid-Atlantic or the Rust Belt. They don't share many qualities with the NE at all.

I’ve brought it up in this board before, but Mississippi State is a good football program. They have had bad years, but for over the last decade they have been consistently good. However, they have the unenviable position of sharing a division with LSU and Alabama. But Miss State isn’t close to the tiniest fish in the SEC. That would belong to Vanderbilt with Arkansas, South Carolina, and Florida rounding out the bottom.
Am I arguing to demand that you respect Miss State as a mid-tier SEC school? Yes.

Chadwell also has Mississippi experience and connections since he coached at Delta State years ago.
