Ehh, click baity. I still think ACC is a super long shot for us. Even if UNC leaves you still have Duke, ncsu, and Wake. I doubt they add a 4th team in the same footprint. We don't add enough to the conference to warrant overlapping like that.

App will be in the ACC when Sheri Everts becomes the Chancellor of Harvard.
Neither will ever happen, so why bother contemplating?
Now, I'm heading back to my pillow fort.

As much as I love my school and all that we have accomplished we will never have the market requirements for a major conference. If you could pick App State up and move the school to, say Charlotte would we have the same success and charm? The Belt as it stands is pretty good.

Is the ACC without UNC, State, Duke, Clemson and FSU better than where we are? Yes it’s the ACC but would that version be any better than where we are now? The payout might be AAC like but you sacrifice the regional footprint that we enjoy now.

It also says our biggest rivals are the Tar Holes lol.
Playing Wake as conference foes and TV $ would be the benefits, but losing our regionality would be a massive loss. Plus our beloved “Harvard of the Blue Ridge” title is not near the academic standard they would want, probably

I’d say just add Wake and Georgia Tech to the Sun Belt once the ACC collapses

Again, all members of the ACC are research-oriented universities but App is not. And while it sounds stupid and completely unrelated to football, ask yourself this: how many of the new ACC members are also predominantly research-oriented universities?

Dr Everts might disagree with that. We have added research grants and research facilities in recent years due to Dr Everts' efforts.

If/when that collapse occurs and they get left behind a la Wazzu/OSU, I could definitely see them reluctantly joining the AAC. Doubt they’d touch the Sun Belt with a 10 foot pole.
