We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

JMU's Athletic Success
I know we all despise the Dukes but I must admit some envy. They sent 6 teams to NCAA tournaments this past year and that's on top of their football success. It will be interesting to see how they fare once they can't rely on student fees for such a big portion of their athletic budget.

Good on 'em, let's see if they can keep it up without all those student fees.

Their athletic department funding has been over 70% student fees recently. Virginia has a law that for FBS schools, student fees cannot exceed 55% of the total funding. They are in for a pretty significant budget cut. I believe App is at about 37% student funded.

Don’t get too excited and expect the sky to fall if they go from 70% to 55% that could be offset by some donors. It will hurt but not like they lose half their money.appst89 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 9:40 amTheir athletic department funding has been over 70% student fees recently. Re: JMU's Athletic Success
While it can be offset by some donors, surprisingly App actually gets more in athletic donor contributions than JMU does. At least the last stat I saw on the subject said so. They were definitely more prepared from a total athletic department to make the move to FBS than we were. Truthfully, with the exception of Football, Wrestling, Cross Country and Track/Field, App's total athletic department has been anemic in comparison. Fortunately, that seems to be changing as we are investing more in other sports and beginning to see the rewards of those efforts.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 9:49 amDon’t get too excited and expect the sky to fall if they go from 70% to 55% that could be offset by some donors.
