All 4 of their fans on ninernation are already in complete meltdown mode after losing by 23 at home vs Jmwho? …and personally, I’m loving it!

It is a shame that Charlotte did not spend more time at the FCS level to truly build a program and culture that was more winning. Besides, JMU is a top level program all across the board and they should not feel bad to have lost to them.PBR1893-BEER-HAT-GUY wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 9:52 amAll 4 of their fans on ninernation are already in complete meltdown mode after losing by 23 at home vs Jmwho? …and personally, I’m loving it!
What were the lines on those two games?
Agree but I think Lamb is also a better coach than Poggi. Here is a question. If you are ECU and don't make a bowl this year do you replace Houston with Lamb? If Lamb can win 9 or more games at ETSU and at least win 1-2 games in playoffs I could see some G5 going after him since he would have proven to turn around 2 teams very quickly.
I believe UNCC was missing a few OL starters. Not sure if he’s injured and didn’t play or if the former App OLB (Spellman) failed to record any stats against JMU. Might be time for the 49er faithful to contact Grady Davis to get the AD and coach fired!
Charlotte does have a very nice small stadium. It was planned to allow expansion to 40K (I think that's the number) in phases. That's why there is so much space behind the stands. You're right though. They need to find some butts for those seats before expansion is really an issue although I think the AAC required a commitment from them that might push that to the front burner before it's really needed.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 9:48 amI think their stadium is kind of cool looking (for a high school). My son and I enjoyed that game there a few years ago. Do they even have the capability of adding 20,000 more seats? What is the point in having a larger stadium if you have 15k for your opener?
McLeod led Auburn in tackles this week.moonshine wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 9:56 amI believe UNCC was missing a few OL starters. On the transfer note, Noel and Philyaw seem to be the only former Apps with any significant production this past weekend.
And that is the problem Charlotte has. Once the program started they rushed out of the FCS without building any tradition of wining. They could have stayed in CUSA, which is clearly a weaker conference than AAC, and had a chance to win some. But they plowed ahead (I doubt anyone would have done differently but still it likely is hurting more than helping right now.) and now being in the AAC they are being tasked to build a bigger stadium that is going to cost and likely not be used and saddle them with debt that makes other moves such as getting rid of coaches all that much harder.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 10:15 amCharlotte does have a very nice small stadium. I completely agree that Charlotte jumping directly into CUSA (and now the AAC) has not served them well. When they first got the invitation, I remember talking about it being an interesting case study. It would give them immediate lift in recruiting and could accelerate their growth, but the lack of history, experience and tradition was going to be tough. Add into that mix a couple of misses in coaching hires and we now have out answer. They wasted the opportunity. I also agree that, it wouldn't be bad for App if they were a little bit better. I'm not a lover of Charlotte, but it does make for an obvious local rivalry situation that could be beneficial in scheduling, etc.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 10:56 amAnd that is the problem Charlotte has. I am glad they are not doing too much with winning in FB as they along with ECU are our most direct rivals for talent in NC. But it would be good to have them push us a bit more as well, like a pace setter in a marathon. And it seems they are being worked into the schedule more than ECU and having a non-conference rival is not bad, but a rival needs some amount of being somewhat level.
Their strengths of a big city is also their weakness. Ga St has some of the same problems.
