It wasn't the players fault the contract was written poorly.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 5:53 pmI honestly hope this “new” football model is unsustainable and collapses. Marshall was supposed to represent the Sun Belt in that bowl game. So has the Belt suffered a financial loss? I would like to see the players who pulled out be sued. You want to be big boys and make a bunch of money, well here’s the other side of the coin. This is just one reason why the sit for a year rule was needed.
Their coach was shown the door. His contract was not renewed. He kinda had to look for another job. Granted, he had been doing that all along, which is why he wasn’t renewed.
Thank you for this. Quit blaming the players for not wanting to play for a coach that didn’t recruit them. Marshall obviously doesn’t care about those players leaving or they would’ve extended the coach who just won the conference title.
How about they play for the love of the game? I played for some awful coaches and with some sorry teammates but I always played. What happens to these young men in real life when someone walks out or God forbid disappoints them?MrCraig wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 7:50 pmThank you for this. The lengths some go on here to coddle and excuse literally anything the players do to don’t do is remarkable.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 8:57 pmHow about they play for the love of the game? How about we lay blame where it belongs instead of on what’s left of a roster in Huntington? The new “system” of college football is what’s caused this. Players are compelled to enter the portal before they’re finished for the season and too many of Marshall’s players entered to field a competitive team. Something is going to have to change.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 8:57 pmHow about they play for the love of the game? I think both of y’all’s positions are true at the same timegoapps93 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 9:11 pmHow about we lay blame where it belongs instead of on what’s left of a roster in Huntington? I can’t disagree that the new system is a huge part of the problem. If things don’t change with transfers the season needs to simply end after the conference championship games.goapps93 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 9:11 pmHow about we lay blame where it belongs instead of on what’s left of a roster in Huntington? How about those slaves pick some cotton for the love of 400 thread count sheets. I wish this was not happening to be honest but these players are not slaves or indentured servants, much to the chagrin of some fans of college football.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 8:57 pmHow about they play for the love of the game? Extremely bad analogy. These guys were never forced to play football, it's a choice. Plus, they have always been compensated. I'm not saying they didn't deserve more, but that's a terrible analogy.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 9:34 pmHow about those slaves pick some cotton for the love of 400 thread count sheets. No they’re not slaves, they accepted scholarships and NIL money and a bunch of other perks. They accepted the responsibility of putting on those team colors. They sought out the privilege of playing sports with and for their coaches, fellow teammates and fans. They are anything but slaves. Are any of them refunding the scholarship money? They sought out the responsibility, no they are not slaves in any way shape or form by evidence of the fact that they just walked away. These are some of if not the most privileged people on their college campus. You make a mockery of the horrors of slavery with this comparison.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 9:34 pmHow about those slaves pick some cotton for the love of 400 thread count sheets.
