It opened fine for me. It may have asked if I wanted to sign up for AP News email but I closed that window without inputting anything and all was fine. I just opened it and I did not even get that window.

Just further confirms that I am not long for big time "college" football. It's a farce.

This may not come to pass, but it is hard to argue a path that does not look like this more than it does.

Can we go with Qatari instead? Mainly so we can argue about the correct way to pronounce the country.

In all seriousness, they have already done their best to buy professional golf. Fortunately it has not worked for them. There are easier targets, and under-funded collegiate athletic programs are likely on their radar.

That’ll get them a roster for one year.

And soon they will get to gamble away all their money on pro sports. Sports are all about gambling after all.

Big 10 deal
ESPN reported last week that a tiered structure is expected in the initial allocation of the $2 billion-plus in capital, with larger brands receiving more money. Each school, however, would receive a payout in at least the nine-figure range, sources said.
The deal would call for an extension of the league's Grant of Rights through 2046, providing long-term stability and making further expansion and any chance league schools leave for the formation of a so-called "Super League" unlikely.

If the G5’s (theoretically) dismantled and created a new 12 team conference to in essence become another power conference for playoff purposes who would make the cut? Would we?
Boise
Memphis
USF
JMU (ugh)
UNLV
Navy
Tulane
ODU (?)
Let’s just throw Washington State and Oregon State in that group. Maybe 5-7 years ago it’s a no brainer but now are we in?

My personal opinion is yes.
I would like to see a 9 team east conference and 9 team West conference join together.
Play 9 conference games. Play one West team each year early in conference schedule.. the east/West champ play in conference championship.

It would be interesting but I would not be shocked if some in the current P4 are left behind and part of that league. I think App would still get in because of brand name, attendance, etc.
I am wondering if we might see a combo of the AAC and Sun Belt top programs and then those left from both leagues form with a few CUSA schools and some of the current CUSA schools end up dropping down? Would the MAC still exist in FBS or would it need to drop down? We should have a good idea in 5-6 years.
I know this has nothing to do with us now but someone I know in the D2 world believes D2 football won't exist in 10 years and that 40-50 of their schools will drop football. A lot of changes are coming for sure.

It’s good to see some back-and-forth on this issue, and I’m glad to see leaders pushing back on this, including US Senator Maria Cantwell.
I have a hard time wrapping my head around the validity of this scheme. While there are examples of government institutions selling rights to public assets (i.e., oil/gas leases on public land), a transaction like this is different in many ways.
Yet the larger issue here is how this whole PE funding idea merely throws money at the core problem (skyrocketing costs) while doing nothing to solve it.
