FCS national championship

Post by APPdiesel » Tue Jan 06, 2026 12:15 am

Oh my what a ballgame. It had everything. A nearly sold out crowd in Nashville, momentum swings, huge plays, blunders at the worst possible times, and a guy named “Taco”. I am still vehemently opposed to a G5 national championship because of all the implications of relegating ourselves to the new FCS, but dang it if ending the season like *that* doesn’t seem like a better way to market our collection of like minded programs than getting our teeth kicked in by Oregon and Ole Miss.

I watched entire game - pulling for Montana State. Very exciting with good play by both teams, both offensively and defensively.

I thought about Illinois State blocking our kick and ending our playoff run when it happened twice to them last night.

I hate I missed it. Forgot it was on. It's got some pretty good publicity on newsfeeds this morning. Must have been a whale of a good game.
We will never be competitive in a P4 playoff model. Need a G5-6 playoff. IMHO.

Very exciting game. Stadium was full of noisy excited fans (35,000 or so). Better than most of the bowl games and undecided up until the end. Great plays by both teams.

The blocked kick reminded me of Michigans attempted comeback against us back in 2007.

I was pulling for Montana State but really hated for either of those teams to lose. I'm glad we are where we are, but damn those were some good days.

Good game. As I watched I kept asking myself:

Could we have won against either of these teams tonight?

They both beat us pretty handily this year imo

Completely forgot the game was even on so I didn't see a single minute of it.

If I thought it would solve the NIL and transfer issues I would go back to the FCS tomorrow.

Love that song, love those first two Boston albums. Hate NIL and the transfer portal.

Dude it was one of the best games I’ve seen, the ending was phenomenal. Shades of 2005 scoop and score. A lot of drama. My Nashville buddies said both schools took over downtown Nashville.

Chattanooga was a ton of fun, but man I’m jealous. Can you imagine App Nation taking over Broadway 3 years in a row?

Awesome game last night. Illinois State almost completed an incredible run from unseeded to champion. Probably should have left their offense on the field late in the 4th quarter.

Took me a while to sort it out, I was like why aren't they showing ISU's ranking, lol.
